Another example of instead of complaining about how unresponsive bishops are as if they were supposed to be omniscient, alert them to a problem.

"The particular targets of the group's derision are women in religious communities"
Sad to say, I didn't notice that problem. The misogynism was overshadowed by all the other stuff.

I got one of those emails. I thought it was pretty good, all things considered.

Probably wouldn't hurt to send a note of thanks to the Archdiocese of San Francisco. I'm sure some positive reinforcement would be appreciated, especially since the Church there is sure to be subject to hissy fits by the SPI and their supporters.

No doubt we shall not expect a complaint lodged before the SF Human Rights Commission.
By the way the Human Rights Commissioners are the biggest band of "Goof balls" ever assembled in one room, excepting the SF Board of Supervisors. http://www.sfgov.org/site/sfhuma...age.asp?

Ah, I get it. If they said "SPI is pro-homosexual," they'd be called homophobic. If they said "SPI is anti-Catholic," they'd be accused of censorship. So they're using a criticism that the politically-correct might find harder to counter: "SPI is SEXIST!"
Fascinating strategy.

Good. But will they rethink everything they're doing or just stop this *one* practice?

Elmo,
You are right. I'll drop an email as it is good that someone should praise and not just complaints.

I never expected this. There is hope even in San Francisco--who knew?
Anyone else sense the winds of change are making all things new?

Hallelujah! Good news indeed. I will certainly write a letter of thanks to the Archdiocese.

Well, since Adolfo asked "What do you say, Zhou," let me just quote from today's San Francisco Chronicle, Matier and Ross column:
---
Bingo bust: The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco has tossed the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence's monthly bingo game out of Most Holy Redeemer Church on Diamond Street.
The infamous devotees in drag have been calling out the numbers at the church's Ellard Hall for the last two months, but when church higher-ups learned of the game, they pulled the plug.
Maybe it was the Sisters' past spats with the church over their annual Easter bash. Or maybe the emcee who was supposed to work bingo night -- "Peaches Christ" -- was just too much. Whatever the case, the church isn't talking except to say that the game is out of the hall.
Sister Barbie Mitzvah, chair-nun of the bingo bash, said the group was "stunned and deeply saddened" by the ouster.
Proceeds from the game benefit AIDS programs. No word yet on where the next bingo bash will be, but given the players on both sides, you can bet there will be more to follow.
---
So, even if it was a sort of "outreach" at the parish level to their community, it has been nixed by the Archbishop's office.
(However, the "private event" is still on the online parish calendar.)
It might be that this matter will get more attention after the election.
QUESTION: Did anyone who recieved a response from the Archdioese actually receive the name of a person who sent or wrote the response, or is everything, as is the newspaper report, just coming from some anonymous, impersonal "Voice of the Archdiocese"?
