Our blogger needs to chill. The silence of Cardinal Maida extends to most of our esteemed bishops. Even here in Commonwealth of PA, where incumbent Sen. Rick Santorum- clearly THE pro-life voice in Senate- in battle of his career against Demo incumbent Bobby Empty Suit Casey. Who has supported OTC morning after pill-unlike legacy of his Pa may he rest in peace. Par for the course everywhere. But just as well. Remember edict of John Paul The Great to oust those in religious vocations from secular political office. That's our job as layfolks. To get the word out about our candidates and those who oppose them. To remind Pennsylvanians about Santorum's courage in the face of an entire lib establishment culture that would like to see him sent back to manage a Wawa (fine local convenience store chain.) And that Bobby Empty Suit Casey only parrots talking points from his pro-abort masters. And let us not read any more moaning about oh how horrible both parties are on life issues I won't vote whine whine whine. As in fine young pro-life Dem candidate in Florida who regularly yaps here. And getting into the battles in other states over legalized stem-cell research- aka those with commercials featuring Michael J. Useful Idiot Fox. Actions speak louder than words. Vote next Tuesday. The life you save may be your own. Literally.

Maybe Cdl Maida would be singing a different tune if the pro-life group's savior, DeVos, wasn't a man whose entire fortune was made by manipulating the poor? Maybe, just maybe, Cardinal Maida doesn't want to send the message that manipulating the vulnerable for personal gain is okay as long you are pro-life.

Hey, I tried Amway. I just didn't have the balls to stick with it. Many of the people I started with, who did have the balls, are now wealthy. If you look at Amway's corp of Diamonds and above (ie. millionaires), you will never meet such a group of booger picking morons ( after all, I have a Ph.D. and that gets me....exactly nothing ) but they are filthy stinking rich and I'm writing this from a foul smelling temp trailer at work where I will probably die some day. The problem was me, not the whole Amway thingie. Anybody can get rich doing that. It takes a Ph.D. to stay poor doing something he hates.

Michiganders?

Or is it Michigeese?

Let's be precise M.Z.:

Richard DeVos made billions manipulting the poor (and the working and middle class and whoever else was vulnerable to his snake oil materialism).

His son Dick (the Senate Candidate) got rich by being the son of a guy who manipluated the vulnerable.

*sigh*

Dick worked at Amway for a long time. He has never renounced his father's ponzi scheme. He gladly accepted the money from this ponzi scheme, and he in fact is using that money in his bid for governor.

Agreed MZ. I didn't mean to sound like I was absolving DeVos Jr.

MZ. Get your schemes correct.
Amway is a pyramid scheme.
Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme.

Gerard E. for PA Senate!

This Democrat for Life hears ya over here in the Burgh, Gerard. I'll be there on Tues. I'll be casting my vote for Santorum and against the empty suit, but I fear it will be to no avail.

I'm also praying for Santorum, who turned up at my parish a couple of weeks back for a weekday morning school Mass. He could have been shaking a lot more hands downtown on a street corner, but he never misses daily Mass. That's the kind of guy we are probably about to lose.

current lector :
Michiganders is correct

John J. Simmins, Ph.D. :
A masters will suffice, actually, to do something you hate for a living. ( I will attempt to switch careers soon.)

And as far as the Michigan elections go, Granholm claims to be Catholic while supporting abortion 100%. I don't know what denomination DeVos is. I know he's rich via Amway. What choice does a Catholic have? Abortion supporter or rich manipulator? I'll take the rich jerk. Not happy about it, but better than the abortion-supporting-failure-as-a-governor -pretending-to-be-Catholic Granholm.

And GO BLUE. We will soundly thrash the Buckeyes in a few weeks.

DeVos is an acceptable candidate to vote for over Granholm. And Bouchard is certainly an acceptable choice over Debbie Stabafetus.
