Nice video though the coverage of the pro-choice bunch is unnecessary. The counter-demonstrators this year seemed to be a lot smaller in number than last year and represented the side-show freak element of liberal/"progressive" politics: Code Pink, some drag queens and aging hippies (I swore I saw Jerry Garcia in the bunch. I knew is death was a hoax).

I took my 12 year old for the Walk of Life and he asked why there were not more protesters out in favor of abortion rights. I told him, in part, many of those who support abortion probably know, deep inside, that it is wrong and thus do not feel the urge to take to the street to support the wrong, our generations "peculiar institution".

This is a powerful event with lots of families and young people about. If you are from out of town and want to attend next year, there is easy access to San Fran on BART (local train) from the East Bay.

great video, wonderful quotes...next years Walk for Life will be on Jan. 19, MLK's birthday, with his pro-life neice in attendance. Don't let the protestors scare you off...they were racous and verbally aggressive, but very few in number compared to the overwhelming majority of walkers. The pro-aborts are a powerful witness to the really ugly side of this culture war, but let's not let the protestors define why we walk and who we walk for...see you in '08!

dpt,

You know, I think it would say something if pro-life folks started regularly referring to abortion as our "peculiar institution."

HokiePundit,

I began reading "Uncle Tom's Cabin" over the weekend and that short phrase stood out.

Awesome. What was the music used for the clip?

Headline from a year hence:

"Abortion rights activists condemn 'shameful politicization' of MLK"

Wait for it.

Quoth Nick Milne "Headline from a year hence:

i don't know that we will have to wait a full year.

When i heard the allusions to the "I have a dream" speech, almost the first thing that came to mind is that somewhere, some pro-abortion person has already caught those allusions and is fuming that MLKs words are being "misused." If so, we'll probably hear about it before long.

Peace,
chris

At the Walk for Life this year in San Francisco, a group was singing "We Shall Overcome". A young person from the pro-choice side ran across to our side (accidentally pushing an old pro-life lady, but the person did apologize so I don't hold that against them) and started screaming "that is an exploitation of the song! That is an exploitation of the song!" unitl they were encouraged by the police to go back to the pro-choice side.
