Not to mention: "Take heed that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he!' and, 'The time is at hand!' Do not go after them" (Luke 21:.

Sorry, that was supposed to be Luke 21:8.

"All members of Growing in Grace are expected to tithe—which, along with offerings, yielded $1.4 million for headquarters last year. One of the first orders of business at every service is the collection of money (credit cards accepted)."

Glad to see Jesus is using modern technology...

If you read into the article he now declares that he is the anti-Christ, despite previously being Christ, and before that, the apostle Paul.

Methinks this man is a kook. His poor followers...

His poor followers really need our prayers. As a child, I saw many led astray by similar evil and it's never good: not only are the individuals who stay harmed but many more are turned away from the church after encountering such ugliness where they once saw such good.

In the words of Marvin, the Paranod Android, "Oh, not another one...".

100,000. So sad. I just viewed a documentary on Jones and The Peoples Temple last weekend. This guy is attracting way more people. He sounds way more venal, perhaps less violent (yet, who knows--what comes after burning crucifixes?), but equally as insane.

$1.4 million divided by 100,000 that comes out to about $14 a head in donations per year. Divided by 55 services (one weekly plus a few holy days), and we are looking at $0.25 donation per congregant per service. Are you sure he's not Catholic?

He's a fraud. He's obviously Napoleon.

What ever happened to that one odd fellow who wouldn't tell anyone his name? He'd sleep in churches and stuff like that, pray and do works of charity. Somewere in the northeast US, I think.

I didn't expect You-Know-Who to look like a used car dealer, that's for sure.

If people keep falling for Joseph Smith, and Ellen G. White, and Rev Moon, and all the other established sects, after so many years of debunking of their stories, we should not be surprised that something like this happens.

Poor followers indeed, we should pray for them, but I am confident that the Lord will have mercy on them. "Lord forgive them, they know not what they are doing". Let us also pray that we be faithful to what we are given to know.

What is it about these guys that enables them to raise this kind of money and have this kind of following. I swear, I'm stumped. Really.

Kevin, "What ever happened to that one odd fellow who wouldn't tell anyone his name?" The barefoot guy? I always wondered what happened to him. He was in the South for quite a while about two years ago.

Y'know one of the great things about being Catholic?

I read down this article thinking, "OK, pal, I'll be open-minded - what'cha got?" Then I read the part where he says "there is no sin and no Satan, and people are predestined to be saved." Uh-oh. Well the Church that Chirst (you?) established says otherwise. And I tossed him into the mental kook-bin.

I didn't need to get to the Paul/AntiChrist parts.
