What a tit! |
My guess is that those who hate the Church no matter what may listen. The rest will shy away because of his tactics. After all, no matter what we believe, we usually know to avoid contact with the slimier side of the debate. And this is slimy. |
Actually, it was a piece by an Italian weekly, "L'Espresso", found at http://espresso.repubblica.it/de...7349&
ref=hpstr1. |
What Dave G. said. Slimy is actually a much politer word than the one that came immediately to my mind. |
I seem to recall Michael Moore and Janeane Garofalo doing something similar on the old TV Nation show. Of course, they treated the whole thing as the joke that it was. |

As I stated on my blog, I hope one of these priests finds this jackass, pretends to be a really mean mugger, and beats the ever living sh** out of him in order to preach an expose on how jackass reporters react to a good thrashing. |
I wonder if the discipline changed with the number of times he lied...wouldn't that be ironic? |
I believe that s***-beating is a ministry of the permanent diaconate. |

You know, Mark, I think your "Take Off 50 IQ Points whenever the Press Talks about Religion" phrase is a clever one, but mathematically speaking, I don't think it is possible to have an IQ less than zero, and so you really couldn't deduct 50 IQ points. |
So this guy _wants_ every priest to give the same exact advice and penance to every instance of the same sin? I hope he enjoys having his editor tell him to write the exact same story every time, with just the names changed... |
I take joy in this..... it means the Church is stirring people out of complacency and self satisfaction....nudging some consciences....salt is irritating.... now for the light |
Um, how does it mean that? |
This "Take Off 50 IQ Points Whenever the Press Talks about Religion" file... is that the one next to the "Add 50 IQ Points Whenever the Press Talks about Iraq" file, or the one next to the "Add 50 IQ Points Whenever the Press Talks about Torture" file? |
I skimmed the original article. I couldn't do more than skim, not because of any morbid, outraging offense, but because it conveys, to me at least, the "banality of evil." |
Um, how does it mean that? |
I followed the link to the Yahoo article that clearly misrespresents the Church teaching on euthanasia. The scenario he presented to the priest was one where a loved one was taken off a respirator, not a victim of active euthanasia. Last I checked the Church has no problem removing a respirator and allowing someone to die who cannot breath on their own. |

Hello, I am an unscrupulous liar. I wish to inform you that you spouse is cheating on you. I obtained conclusive evidence of this by means of unscrupulous lying. There is no way for you to verify any of my evidence, but trust me. Would I lie to you? Yes, I would, I'd lie to anyone, but at this particular moment I'm not lying. |
Um, how does it mean that? |
