"Inadequate contraception is not just a Third World issue. Roughly half of all U.S. pregnancies are unintended. And a baby born in North America will use roughly 25 times more resources over the course of its life than a baby born in the developing world." |

I noticed yesterday in downtown Seattle so many hetero parents with kids headed to that Pride parade. What sort of distorted values have these people ingested? |
|
So then every environmentalist should do the honest thing and be sterilized and leave the rest of us to have the kids we want. |
|
By the way, does anyone else find it highly ironic that they have no problem with 100 million condoms polluting our landfills and spreading disease? Just as the pill and hormones are affecting our waterways and changing the gender of aquatic life. |

The environmental activists and population explosionists always assume that the "right number" of people always includes them. So many of these people come from the well-off or very well-off. They continue to live the life style they have become accustomed to and make few if any true sacrifices. I know this because I live among them in this corner of God's green acre called Seattle. |

"... three of the most serious problems facing humans: sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies and population growth." |

Ditto all points above. I cannot even begin to say it better than y'all! |

"Unintended pregnancy" is a weird phrase. Despite all their superpowers, women aren't like Tolkien's elves who can will a person's conception. |
|
I also liked the first sentence under "The Clothesline"-"In an hour and 15 minutes, the Earth receives as much energy in the form of sunlight as humans officially use in a year." |

"...three of the most serious problems facing humans: sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies and population growth." |

I grew up, in church & youth-group, with one of the senior staff members at this Sightline Institute. While we aren't in touch now, I've surmised that he's since strayed from the faith, substituting environmentalist doctrine instead. As children, we were good friends (who both memorized entire books of the Bible, no less); I wonder now if he'd even be happy for me on the birth of my son. Sad. |

I have issues with people who think other people are a waste of oxygen. |

Discarded condoms sometimes turn up in your lunch: |

This is a testimony to my personal strangeness. I read that headline and thought, "How did they prove this? Porky likes to wear a skirt?" It took me a couple of seconds to figure out what the deal was... |

Does anyone have any non-anecdotal evidence that the amount of trash left behind from the gay pride parade is significantly greater than the amount of trash left behind from another parade of comparable size? Because otherwise, why would anyone expect the local press to comment on it? |
