Holy smokes.

I mean.

Freakish Enemies of the Normal, indeed. (Unless InsideCatholic.com commenter Patrick is right and YOU, Mark Shea, are writing all this stuff yourself!)

I am so totally busted.

Anything to win the election, right?

Right. Palin specifically had five kids, forced the oldest to go into the military and forced Bristol to get pregnant and had Trig...just to be the VP nominee in 2008. Right.

I've often said that pro-contraception, pro-abortion folks treat fertility like a disease.

Indeed - that article proves they think fertility (read: embracing fertility) is on par with the plague.

Never mind that fertility is a sign of a healthy person and healthy body.

As Mark says, "Sin makes you stupid." I'd only amend that to say, "Sin makes you REALLY stupid."

I really want to believe that was satire.

That has to simply be the weirdest thing I've read in a long time.

"Instead, like a raped woman, Iraq became angry and complicated."

?!?!?!?!??

The idea that Palin is only there to inject sex appeal into the McCain campaign is just so out there.

I find the idea preposterous, except that it may have worked up here (Canada), with Trudeau (who many considered to be quite sexy). But to assume that voters are so easily swayed implies more about Obama, than McCain.

I feel slimy just for having read it.

where do you find this stuff?

Of course, if Track had NOT enlisted, Michael Moore would slime his mother for not "sending" him.

i'm not surprised.

These are, after all, the sort of people Obama was talking to about how normal people cling to guns and religion out of bitterness. Obama was playing their tune, and they've taken up the song themselves.

It's not just the nutroots:

S.C. Dem Chair: Gov. Palin's Primary Qualification is She Hasn't Had an Abortion

Yeah, and it turns out that drinking the Obama Kool-Aid can turn even Matt Damon into a douchebag.

Victor,

Why must they talk and talk and talk? Disney Movie? Ohmygosh, please stop talking unless you have a point.

I'm not sure why turning Matt Damon into a douchebag is supposed to be difficult.

Because he's generally a fine actor and has (or had) the highest Return On Investiment of any A-list actor in Hollywood (gross:salary was like 28:1).

But that video clip made him come across as a completely petty and piggish blockhead.

You know what else would make a good Disney movie? Two 20-something unknowns come to Hollywood with a script, filled with all sorts of folksy college-boy cliches, which gets turned into a movie and makes over $225 million dollars. Oh, wait. Disney/Miramax already made that movie.

After a success like that though, I guess you can afford to turn cynical on everyone else.

The column was . . . er . . . interesting, but that particular criticism of the GOP ticket IS NOT coming from the cultural and political direction to which you attribute it.

Re-read the column, paying particular attention to the end. And then do some poking around on the Bayou Buzz site.

If anything, that ripping of the "GOP fertility cult" was coming from the center-right to far-right. It seems to be a decrying of a focus on issues giving way to a national soap opera.

Oddly put, but that's where it's coming from, I think.

There are "nutroots" in Louisiana, I am sure. But these folks ain't them.

You might can argue the column is nutty -- and it certainly was eccentric, to say the least -- but it wasn't nutroot-generated material in service of Abortion for America.

Victor,

Remember that Matt Damon was also in "Dogma." So as far as his views are concerned, I'm about as impressed as I am when I hear that Roger Ebert dislikes a movie. (Ebert wrote "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" which was worse than anything Ed Wood could have come up with.)

What the $%^&! are "folksy college-boy cliches"?

I wasn't sure, but now I'm positive I've had it. Here you have freakish enemies of normal and fanatical devotion to the "son of god" all wrapped up in one. http://elections.foxnews.com/200...alin-is-pilate/

Well, I kind of had some fun with the Disney Movie thing.

But this is amazing--and it's going to get worse.

In fact, I'd bet that the amount, ugliness, and ubiquity of this kind of nonsense will increase proportionately to Obama's rate of decline in the polls between now and election day.

Those South Park guys knew Damon was a douchebag all along.

That column was just so bizarre. A feminist treating other women as merely sex objects. pffft

The secret of feminists is that they are truly jealous of women who have taken the risk to love and marry a man, and be happy and to have children with that man, and be happy. And be happy! Leftist feminists cannot relinquish their anger at or hatred of men. They cannot let themselves face the possibility of failure or unhappiness to actually obtain success and happiness in life. It's envy folks. Fear and envy.

That's his big point? That's his whole thesis? he questions whether she believes dinosaurs roamed the earth?

apparently Matt gets his news from gossip columns like MSNBC. He must be referring to the false rumor about teaching Creation in the school.

Weird. Especially for an actor who I'm sure has false rumors spread about himself.

I wish actors would just keep their opinions to themselves and leave me with my fantasies about the characters they play. I've really been enjoying the Jason Bourne series and was hoping for another one and now Matt just ruined it for me. I can never look at Jason Bourne again and think he's anything but a dim-wit.

I thought _2004_ was bad, with all the pointless, bitter sniping. And we've just really begun _this_ cycle. Time to start writing my letter to my superior requesting to be sent to the missions... any mission, without television.

lamb, yes, it's a risk when a celebrity goes political. They have nothing to gain and much to lose. I don't know why they think they have any influence on public opinion. They're getting beyond their pay grade.

A Canadian physician (would someone please explain why the thoughts of foreigners about what's best for our country should be as important as our own?) is now expressing "concerns" about the fact that Palin's refusal to abort Trig will encourage Canadian women to keep their Down syndrome babies. It just gets sicker and sicker, folks.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/...-palin- dow.html

djrakowski,

That was disturbing. I figured you linked to some radical right wing blog or something, then noticed the latimes. And it wasn't some weird off the wall thing. It was a serious story about a doctor actually saying it might reduce the number of abortions. Forgive my ignorance, but hasn't the Left always said they want the number of abortions reduced - they just don't want them forbidden? This acts as if fewer abortions is a bad thing in and of itself.

Not to mention the chilling master race concepts going on with the whole 'women with Down's Syndrom babies should abort them' thing. That really is frightening.

Is it just me, or does this whole Palin thing seem to have brought out the radical Left like puss from a wound? These portrayals have been implied by the far-right for years, but mainline liberals and Democrats have always dismissed them as some unfair caricature by radical conservatives. But now, it's out there. If I were a liberal, especially a liberal Christian, I would be doing some serious soul-searching right about now.

I was initially abivalent about Palin's selection but it has done one constructive thing. More than any event in recent memory, she has lured the "culture of death" into taking off its mask and showing its ugly face. The despicable is no longer posing as rational. As Mark had pointed out, when Michale Moore is your voice of reason, you are in big trouble. No one can have any illusions now concerning the real motivations of the freakish enemies of the normal. Not sold on her as potential POTUS but for this I say "Bravo, Sarah and well done!"

Forgive my ignorance, but hasn't the Left always said they want the number of abortions reduced - they just don't want them forbidden?

That's what they say, isn't it? The eugenic purpose of abortion has been made crystal-clear in these attacks on Palin and her innocent child. Sure, abortion should be made rare, unless your child is 'defective.'

Good Lord, I can hardly type those words, even as a descriptor of someone else's beliefs. May God have mercy on their souls.

Is it just me, or does this whole Palin thing seem to have brought out the radical Left like puss from a wound?

Yes, it has. Regular folks - you know, the ones who live anywhere but large cities on either coasts - are repelled by it, and Obama is suffering as a result.

That was supposed to be "ambivalent" in my post above.

Note to self: "Drink coffee before posting."

A Random Friar,

Welcome to the dangerous world of the laity.

More from the they.can't.stop.themselves files: an MSNBC reporter writes that Palin squealed with delight upon seeing her family in Fairbanks.

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/a...11/ 1377812.aspx

The problem the Left has is that they have long gone to radical, nutty Right Wing sites, found the most horrible bilge, and then used it to say, "See, that's what you get with Conservatives/Christians." Now, the gate has been opened.

By the way, good luck posting on some of the Left blogs right now. The Huffpost seems to be letting about one pro-Palin/McCain/Conservative post for every one or two hundred negatives. I have posted about a dozen or so in the past few days, and so far, one has made it. That's another indicator they are scared (like it or not, it’s usually been easy to post on the Huffpost).

Victor,

It took a friend ages to convince me to go watch The Bourne Ultimatum - I didn't know it would be a good sequel as I didn't watch the 2 predecessors, but mostly I recall (hopefully correctly) that Matt Damon publicly dumped his then-girlfriend Minnie Driver whilst on (gasp!) the Oprah show. Kinda like Hislittlelamb's sentiment - hard to watch him on screen while trying to suppress uncharitable thoughts of him.

So his little outing on 'ripping' Sarah Palin part this time...very classy.

I just read the Huffpost take on Damon's comments. They really don't get it do they? Just a hockey-mom? Can you imagine the Left had that been said about a Liberal/Democrat? You really get the feeling that Liberalism is really a religion, and it will tolerate no dissent. Women have rights when embracing liberalism, but when not embracing it? Back to the kitchen and the hockey field you go. It appears that equal rights is now a ploy to increase the flock, not the end all to modern liberalism. I wonder if it applies to other minorities as well. If this doesn't throw cold water on the face of everyone, including not a few who still cling to liberalism out of loyalty to the better tenets of classic liberalism, I'm not sure what will.

In Lib-World:

Feminist = abortion on demand advocate
Not a feminist = crazy whacked out woman who is submissive to her abusive husband who keeps her barefoot and pregnant against her will, but is too stupid to realize it

Liberal blacks - normal
Conservative blacks - Uncle Tom

Liberal white - educated, refined
Conservative white - redneck, bitter, uneducated, clinging to guns and God

André Lalonde... a québecer no doubt. (Ottawa is just across the river from Hull QC) No surprise there. Québec is as bad as your California for leftist extremists. I'm Canadian, and I find this sick too. I wonder if they even REALIZE what they are saying. Gosh extremism can make people stupid. And the sad thing is, I'm actually quite socially liberal, would probably agree with liberals on more points than not, but just because I am pro-life, and against gay-marriage they would dump me into the "stubborn, backwards, extremist right-wing" pot. Idiots.
