I don't think it's funny to suggest that the stuff that we saw from Abu Graib is being committed on a regular basis by our American servicemen and servicewomen on the ground in Irag. It's insulting to those who are risking life and limb over there. It's not "Humorous," what ever one thinks of the war.

The real insult to our troops is that they had to fight the Administration to keep this stuff from being forced down their throats. The Administration continues to battle to make torture part of its "tools" employed by the CIA. That the military successfully withstood them is to the Pentagon's great credit. That the Administration continues to employ torture and lie about it is to our great shame.

Mark,
I agree. I was just really offended by the comedians (who were mostly funny) joking about, among other things, soldiers "just go[ing] into a village, and hack[ing] every man, woman, and child to death." That really rubs me the wrong way.

Not all satire should rub all sensiblities the wrong way. This is one bad case .

Only The Onion could come up with gems like these:
"The Sudanese have a long and bloody history of taking care of their environment."

Not all satire should rub all sensiblities the wrong way.
This is an almost nonsensical statement. Do you mean some satire should rub all sensibilities the wrong way?
An analogous true statement is:
Not all satire [will] rub [David B's] sensibilities the wrong way.

cricket 2008,
This is an almost nonsensical statement.
Sheesh. Don't condesendingly become the grammar police of my post. Address the topic. It paints you as a childish person who insults others when you find someone who dares to respectably disagree with you. May I be so insubordinate!?!
I meant that, well some satire is good, by no means is all satire always good. My statement was somewhat hyperbolic.
Did my dislike for some parts of this video annoy you? Should I conform to other's ideas of humor, and sacrifice my own sensibilities? I'd rather have others attack me than bow to uniformity.

Crikets make a lot of noise, yet have little substance to themselves...

Cri[c]kets make a lot of noise, yet have little substance to themselves...
yet a single cricket can't be heard until everyone else shuts up (not that there's any more substance there than in a noisy swarm of 'em).
Oops. Someone read my blog again. I'd better get to work on my March post.
Don't blame you for not voting for me. I think I have an even smaller chance of winning than Hillary. Maybe even as small as Huckabee. Plus there's the problem of me being Canadian. Still, if I did win, I'd definitely be the best president since, oh... at least since Coolidge.
