While it is true that the Protestants followed the canon of Scripture and probably did not leave out Tobit for its "works," it is also true that Martin Luther desperately wanted the book of James removed from the NT because of the "show me your faith apart from your works" thing.

Yeah, ya trash Tobit and miss out on the Archangel Raphael, the only good biblical portrayal of a dog (they were unclean otherwise), and a very holy view of marriage. There's gold in them thar pages. We had a great Bible study of Tobit some years ago. I loved it!

To ask for the Eucharist is to ask for the death of Christ. Every communicant is guilty.

I find that a lot of Christians criticize the Jews for killing Christ.

Not me. Since Nostra Aetate, I blame the Chinese. You should see their expressions when I call them "Christ Killers." Priceless! I'm even thinking of starting my own concentration camp. Who's with me?

The Reformers went with the newer Jewish canon which trimmed that of the Septuagint.

Unfortunately for the Reformers, all the OT quotes in the NT are from the Septuagint, and there are numerous allusions to several of the deuterocanonical books. Aside from the whole "fallible list of infallible books" paradox.
