Wow. Awesome.

I don't know if Peter Kreeft is the smartest man alive right now, but I sure hope he's on the list.

His suicide statistic is flat wrong.

Suicide generally is down since 1950. While it is true that the numbers of pre-adult suicides in up, the increse is something on the order of 2 or 3 times, not 5000%.

That sort of hyperbole is not helpful.

Ben --> This recording is from 1/25/1998. Perhaps his statistics are from that time. Regardless, even at 10-11 years the points that Kreeft makes are excellent and timely.

Wow, that was amazing. I thought the first section was powerful, then I was blown away by the second section, and then the last section was frightening in a “look into your soul” kind of way. That is required reading for us all.

That was an extremely well written piece of work especially considering it addresses the one and only “obvious” answer. The best link provided for me in a long time. Thanks, Mark. That was a wake up call.

A war which is, by the by, more important than the war with Radical Islam.

So true, Mark. And if we were to win it, we might actually stand a chance of beating Radical Islam.

Suicide generally is down since 1950.

Ben, are you sure about that? Is there a reference for this? (I actually want to know, I'm not trying to be obnoxious).

I've just finished the Kreeft article. Wow!

The trouble is, Kreeft's solution is the really, really hard one, which means we will keep trying to come up with incorrect, but easier ones. Sort of like the fanatical push in some parishes for everyone to participate in a "ministry"-- because that's, like, the fullness of the Faith or something. Signing up to lector once a month is easy. Struggling for holiness day in and day out is a serious challenge.
