Well, to be fair to the RBTE guys (whom I do not know), it looks like the notion to invite Bishop Robinson came from the Episcopalian participants. It seems, from what I can gather from the report, to have gone something along the lines of:

"Hey, why don't you guys invite Gene to your dinner?"

"Sorry, no can do."

"Okay, so can we invite him to ours?"

"Er, um, better ask your people about that."

"Okay, so we asked, and they're all cool with it."

"*sigh* Well, if you really must... we can't forbid you asking your own guests to your shindig."

I really can't see him shifting many copies of his new book, though
