My French is a little rusty, but doesn't "Chretien" mean "Christian"?
And isn't Jean Chretien pro-choice?
Just wondering how far the irony goes.

Cartman was right: BLAME CANADA!!!

Actually, "cretin" *is* a corruption of the French for "Christian" if memory serves.

Yes, Jean Chretien is pro-choice. Well, you guys had Bill Clinton, we have Chretien. We all have our crosses to bear.

Not only does the name mean "Christian" but Chretien is just the latest in a line of "Catholic" pro-choice Prime Ministers in Canada. Bleahh....I love my country, and I'll never give up my citizenship, but some things about it disgust me.

Guys. As a Canadian, Jean Crouton's staff calling Bush a moron was innexcusable, but I would not read too much into the comment by Klein's staff. It was probably intended as a sarcastic response mocking Crouton and the federal liberals, rather than as an insult to George W. To explain, Klein is the most conservative premier and Alberta is the most conservative province in the country. Klein often looks South of the border when drafting provincial policy, and thus his government is always at war with Crouton and the federal liberals. A common tactic employed by the feds in these media and political wars is to accuse Klein and the Alberta government of being more American than Canadian.

Just a quick followup, the equivalent to what happened would be if I accidentally blogged the following headline intended only for Mark Shea's private reading between friends who have shared similar denounciations from the same crowd:

"New! Leader of Lidless Eye Reactionary Apostolate refuses resignation of his webmaster and says there is no evidence webmaster used the word 'papolater' to describe THAT NEO-CATHOLIC (my caps) Mark Shea."
