Thanks for your essay on the Puritans! It reminds me of a comment I heard that nearly all American Protestants of European background have Catholic ancestors, even if we have to go back to the early 1500s. Surely our greatgreat...grandparents loved their children and prayed for the continuing of the Faith in them.
Looks like it's taking some time for our country to take a good look at the Catholic Faith, but just think about who first came to this land! On all four corners and right down the middle the early explorers were Catholics and Catholic missionaries, many of them martyred before the Revolutionary War. As a fairly new Catholic, it is with hope that I remember this truism: "The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Faith."
