Meanwhile, believing in magic means always having to carry around a bag of peanuts. and being careful where you spit.

"Rael set up Clonaid, the company which helped an anonymous mother clone her child Eve, who was born in the USA."
She wanted a child, so she cloned herself. Sounds pretty self centered to me. She doesn't want a child, she wants a "mini-me"
I find it to be ironic that the kid is named "Eve". Of course, the cloners think of Eve as the first of a new generation ("The man called his wife Eve because she became the mother of all the living.") I think of Eve as being the person who symbolizes man trying to be God. Eve's the one who first tasted the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Ian,
Sorry for being obtuse, but I don't get your point (even Christians believe in some things of equivalent barbarity).
What Zhu Yu does has nothing to do with what Christians believe. Zhu Yu can call himself a Christian, but he must act as a Christian to really be one.
And what do you mean by "Voice of the Faithful, eat your heart out"?
Sorry. I'm dense at times.

I have to admit that Christians in the past have often been against technological progress for the wrong reasons. That doesn't make what Rael is doing any less morally reprehensible (or intellectually bizarre), but it does make me at least feel uncomfortable. Here we have someone who clearly believes in an ideology of Progress at all costs, and he won't listen to any of the voices opposing him because, he says, some Christians a hundred years ago opposed electric lights. At least he hasn't brought Galileo into the debate yet... That would open a whole nother can of worms.
