Do these people have dayjobs???

The latest, cutting edge form of feminist protest: Cheerleading!

What's next, beauty pagents?

If I have time, I'll comment further on my blog. But even if I don't, I think the article pretty well parodies itself....

They could easily pass for punk rockers. They all have rock-star style, with a studded wristband here, a butterfly tattoo there, a leather jacket reminiscent of the Members Only look of the mid-1980s. And boots - very sturdy, very tough-looking boots....

Emily Kane-Lee, co-organizer of the Vox Rox concert, said the women's style and their youth make a perfect example of modern feminism.

If this is modern feminism, no wonder so many women won't touch that label with a 10 foot pole....

I'll give them this much -- the death-head logos on their megaphones are more apt than the label "pro-choice."

when you treat us like toys

rise up for the cause

don't forget who made you "

I'm guessing that they haven't seen the evidence that shows that abortion and birth control allow men to TREAT WOMEN LIKE TOYS since they no longer have to worry about the consequences (i.e. babies).
And it sure seems that they (the 'cheerleaders') are not remembering who made them.

Matthew:
How can they? I mean a double English major and women studies (trashing the English language from a womyn's point of view!)
A film student drop out.
C'mon they're so inept they can't hold regular jobs so they enteprise

"A woman with a teenage boy in tow chased the Pirates to the parking lot, yelling for them to stop. The woman and boy caught the group outside.

'While everyone caught their breath, she thanked us and said she was glad her son could hear what we were saying and that hopefully it would stick with him. That rocks to hear that sort of compliment.'"

Gee, I guess it's a good thing for mothers to tell their teenage boys that they are trash. Where's "self-esteem" education when you need it?

"'We've all been feminists for as long as any of us can remember,' said Todd, a UWM senior, double-majoring in women's and ethnic studies and minoring in history, psychology and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender studies.

The saddest part is that there will be a Chancelry job for her somewhere.

Yeah, you're right, Xavier. What else could they possibly do?

It's so wonderful how colleges provide all young people with *all* the skills they need for Real Life.

Sheah, right...

Cheerleading does seem like an odd choice for a form of feminist protest. In its original form, it generally involves pretty, skinny girls (discrimination against unattractive women) who are part of the "popular" crowd, (sisterhood divided by petty rivalries) standing on the sidelines (marginalization of women), cheering on the men on the field (promotes male aggression), while wearing skimpy garments and dancing suggestively in front of mostly male fans (objectivization of women as "sex objects").

IOW, Patriarchy in a nutshell - everything feminists hate! How did it become a tool for spreading feminist claptrap? Very weird.
