But how does it work?

That's a dangerous question, considering that it's J.J. Abrams' project.

I found a piece on the globe and it would stay lit up and raised; but I wasn't sure what to do from there.

Is it a matching game?

I'm mystified.

Push the puzzle pieces in an order and see what happens....

Cloverfield.

Maybe.

OK--make that "not"--it's been definitively debunked over at Ain't It Cool.

And if you don't know what "Cloverfield" is....

The Abrams connection is apparently questionable.

The first puzzle I was able to solve on my own. There are also some clues at http://www.ethanhaaswasright.com/helpme/ to the later puzzles.

If you have played Myst or other "adventure" games, you will find this sort of thing familiar. If this is the first time you've seen puzzles like this, it will probably look baffling.

What's baffling t me is that my screen is aparently not large enough for level 2. Argh.

On level 2 I was unable to see the "star" I was supposed to hover over, but putting the cursor almost at the right edge of the page, about halfway up the sky, the alphabet appeared.

Yeah, it's apparently a very clever viral promo for a new role-playing game.

Too bad--that would have made Cloverfield much more intriguing.

Dale,

What, Slusho and the weird photos on the "official movie site" are not enough?

Or the
character myspace accounts. Or...

Darn you, JJ Abrams, for causing me to waste even more time than usual!
