What current Catholic embrace of socialistic ideals? Details please?

I agree with FT. Catholism may not endorse the Demos or socialism, but many of the priest do. I've heard from several priests that we shouldn't be one issue voters (concerning abortion), and that Repubs don't care about people or children - after they're born, heard petitions (in mass) promoting redistribution of wealth, etc. I'm certain I'm not alone.

I also read somewhere that a bishop told his priests to quit championing socialism because they weren't economists and they were ignoring the benefits of capitalism.

I don't understand how a priest could promote the Democratic party (aka the abortion party). I know we've all seen it.

Oh, you mean by lefty Catholics, not by the Magisterium?

Catholics in the US are having a hard time disengaging from the Democratic party cuz it was the party of Catholic immigrants and labor for a long time. It's finally starting to lose some support (I hope), but we'll see. Catholics are as capable of anybody of wooly mindedness.
