WODEHOUSE PLAYHOUSE that ran on PBS years ago is supposed to be available on DVD now. The same actor and actress starred in each episode playing entirely different characters. How fondly I remember "Bloodley Court" and "to pot a yak."

John Alderton and Pauline Collins were the couple.

Wodehouse Playhouse was possibly the best TV or film adaptation of the Master's works, if only because they're based on stories whose humor translates to the screen better than that of the Wooster saga, which depends so much on Bertie's narration.

Thanks. I couldn't remember his name, only hers. They were also part of the early UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS crew.

Hey, look. There's a "Collected Works" of P.G. Wodehouse -- I'm not sure of the exact title -- but it is very much in print and it contains his VERY BEST piece:

"Uncle Fred Flits By."

It is a short story. It is completely brilliant. You will never rue the effort it takes you to track it down.

If you like Wodehouse, you might like the Lucia series by E. F. Benson, brother of Msg Hugh Benson. I've heard they were adapted to British tv at one time too.

"Uncle Fred Flits By" is indeed a wonderful story, but the very best Wodehouse, and one of the most satisfying stories ever written, is "The Crime Wave at Blandings.

"Right Ho, Jeeves."

They have it in Heaven's library.
