Short sales can certainly be a great deal for everyone involved, but buyers should be aware that a typical short sale takes months and may or may not happen in the end. To keep the process moving, all parties involved must be able to wait it out, and the attorneys, realtors, and negotiators (if a separate firm has been handled to hire the negotiation) should be persistent in their follow-up with the bank to prevent the file from falling through the cracks.
It can be a very long and drawn out process which is something that needs to be communicated to the buyers prior to moving forward. This is especially true with first time investors.
