Welcome! Come one, come all!

I found out by accident that Amber needed glasses at the age of three. I'd taken her in for a check-up after an ophthalmalic surgery she'd had much earlier, and was completely shocked to learn her eyesight wasn't good! Since then, I've been diligent about taking the other kids in starting at age three. So far, the other two are okay.

You may find he learns faster once he can see better! I'm just thankful that kids' glasses these days are cute and stylish, unlike the awful ones that were available when we were kids!

Gravatar My kids are doomed too, it is only a matter of time. I really need to get Evan in to an eye doctor soon.

Gravatar I'm waiting for one of mine to show that they got Mike's nasty vision genes.

Fortunately, poor vision is so common, and thankfully the kids seem to be used to seeing glasses nowadays. No biggie.
Mike told me that he was finally given glasses at age 10. I'm sure he'd gone through years without being able to see properly. And he still managed just fine. Don't feel bad!

Gravatar I really should get the Princess to the eye doctor....I think her vision is fine, just selective....kind of like her hearing....

Gravatar This baby is doomed. We both wear glasses and most of the people in our family do too...don't feel bad for not knowing. I think most kids find out in school like that. I did.

Gravatar guilt? eh. no-one figured out that i wasn't seeing, well, anything clearly until 3rd grade....

Gravatar It's a blessing to know now, so it doesn't interfere with his learning. You should not feel guilty at all.

Gravatar The genes will out.

I am wondering, though, about eyesight averages--if Taxman got glasses at age 4 and I got glasses at 25, where does that leave the kids?

Gravatar Oh no, that sucks. It's no fun being young with glasses. (been there, done that). Even if you would have taken him earlier, he'd probably still need glasses. It's all good though, glasses are the new "in".

Have a great day!

Gravatar I wouldn't feel guilty. He seems like the kind of kid (from what you've posted here ) who would have told you if he noticed that he had a problem. You know now, and you'll take care of it. No biggie.

Gravatar Aw, poor guy, but at least there are some fun kids' frames on the market these days

Gravatar I'm personally hoping that our kids got the 'good' eyesight in the family, since they certainly didn't get the good teeth that are genetically available. But on both sides of the family, only half of the people wear glasses for distance vision (as opposed to the reading glasses that all grandparents now sport).

And it's true, kids' glasses are better these days. The last time I had to get glasses, the Bee was trying on every pair in the store, from a fashion perspective.

Gravatar Aw, nuts. But little boys in specs totally melt my heart. The look so grown up and wise in their little bodies. =)

Gravatar I'm blind as a bat, too, and just waiting for one, two or all of my kids to need glasses. The day will come. I bet C will look adorable in his new eyes!

Gravatar My Sister was blind, blind, blind until my parents found out she needed glasses. She was five. The Dr. actually said to my Mom, "you would be scared to know how little she can see". And you know what? She turned out just fine . Hope he gets some really cool glasses that he likes!
