Murmur, Instigate, CLAMOR!!

Gravatar The United States has such a rich tradition of religiously inspired lunatics leading their gullible congregations down the garden path, from Jim Jones to David Koresh, to the more mainstream swindlers like Jim Baker and Jimmy Swaggart. It seems there is an odd preponderance of weirdos named Jim, Jimmy or James. I wonder why?

Great post. I heartily approve when the real Christians call out the phonies on their hypocrisy. 'Oh, ye nest of vipers!'

Gravatar I love it when you talk like that, RevPhat.

It seems that Jesus was and is the most betrayed man in history.

Gravatar The phony Christians are showing their true colors.

***** THE 6TH COMMANDMENT IS : "thou shalt not kill" = MURDER

KILL: (HEB - verb) -Ratsach "to kill, murder or slay... human being"
( Cain & Abel ) ( David & Uriah )

Gravatar I heard Fred Phelps was planning on showing up with his freak show to protest Falwell's funeral. I wonder if those were the protesters the bomber had in mind.

Great post Rev.

Gravatar Yes, Station, those were the protesters the good christian wanted to bomb. I just didn't want to invoke their name.

Gravatar K. Olbermann's special comment.....

Gravatar "It seems that Jesus was and is the most betrayed man in history."

That about sums it up perfectly, I think. How many people's lives have been taken/ruined in the name of Christianity?

Gravatar Without putting too fine a point on it, Christianity is just another contentious sect in the sickness called monotheism.

The Abrahamic sects are founded upon a patriarchy characterised by willing child murder.

We have all heard the True Christian/False Christian argument. As a former Christian, it's all the same to me. Anyone who claims to be a Christian is one.

The world is being killed by Abraham's slaughtering brats: the Jews, the Christians, and the Muslims. They are all the same, willing killers in the God-based delusions of a tribal history best evolved away from.

Gravatar Give it up, Gregory. There are a number of meaningful ways to differentiate responses to the Christian message or myth, one being whether the gist of the response is to the message, or to the myth. Another is the emphasis on belief vs. action, an argument that goes back to the time of Saints Paul and James.

In the latter respect, I really don't care in the long run what someone believes, as long as whatever it is they do believe motivates them to be a better person, and to treat others with respect and dignity. Max Blumenthal lays it out well in This Piece at Huffington Post.

"Uhl implores Christians to die on the battlefield for "Uncle Sam." He justifies his call to arms by quoting several Biblical passages and reminding his readers that the "gift of God" is eternal life.

"Christians, we have been given life after death and we should help others receive it and not sit here in our big buildings and sing to ourselves so we can go home and feel good about ourselves," Uhl writes. "Christians, fear of death, fear of death. The fear of death shows you don't believe."

Uhl concludes, "God needs soldiers to fight so his children may live free. Are you afraid??? I'm not. SEND ME!!! "

Uhl's imploration sounds eerily like the battle-cries of another, more notorious religious radical: Osama bin-Laden. Consider what bin-Laden told the Independent in 1993. "`I was never afraid of death... As Muslims, we believe that when we die, we go to heaven. Before a battle, God sends us... tranquility."
"

Now what is more logical? To say that the Christian terrorist is in an entirely different category because his beliefs are different, or to admit that the two are mostly the same because their respective beliefs result in the same or similar actions?

Gravatar RevPhat,

Great post. Yes, I ask those same questions and am frankly flummoxed as to why and how anyone who has paid any attention might mistake this guy for a true believer, a follower, a prophet. This man spent his life following nothing but power as far as I can tell, and certainly not the example of the the man whose banner he waved in the public square.

Burns me up like not much else. And I don't know what pisses me of more, the hypocrisy or people's inability or refusal to recognize it.

Oh, happy day, I'm off to LA.

Gravatar Greetings, Dear Peeps.

Gravatar Looks like some of Jump's loonacy followed her here from Ablog. tee hee.

^^New thread above. ^^

Gravatar Wherever I go, my loonacy is...

Gravatar I think they, the rabid religious right, must figure "They will know we are Christians by our light" because they are letting their light shine. And everyone knows you need oil to keep the lights on.

I'm so disgusted.

Gravatar Give it up, SBT????

I gave religion up at the age of 15! lol
