Murmur, Instigate, CLAMOR!!

Gravatar Nice. SBT.
I read Conyers had this on his 'to do' list.

I don't understand. If they'd just ignore it, people would forget and they wouldn't have to pretend they want accountability or go through these charades of 'legislation' supposedly protecting privacy.

This is Nazi Germany all over again and the whole "homeland' mentality proves it.

Gravatar And if younger Bush didn't have such an Oedipus complex over older Bush (yuchh), it would have been called the Fatherland. b'dum-kssssh

If I'd had more time I might also have blogged THIS.

Gotta go out for a while. BBL.

Gravatar and have a heapin' helpin' of our hospitality

Gravatar One last thing before I go. I have been getting material from both the Clinton and Obama camps throughout the primaries. The newsletter from the pro-Clinton (but I think more anti-Obama) website Make Them Accountable has been a real eye-opener. There has been nothing NOTHING, zilch, nada, rien, zero, bupkiss, of this level from Barack's side, which has really been taking the high road. I put the link in so you can see for yourself.

" I want you to know (from Hillary Clinton, via email)
I wanted you to be one of the first to know: on Saturday, I will hold an event in Washington D.C. to thank everyone who has supported my campaign… I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans. I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party’s nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise.
Sorry, Senator Clinton, I won’t be following you in your support of Barack Obama.
"

Pissy three-year-old attitude that could hand the White House to McCaveman? Grow the fuck up, for cryin' out loud!

Gravatar Just don't follow the thinking of calling Sylvester Reyes a Democrat "in name only". It seems to me that he is a classic example of the contemporary government employed Democrat.

As someone recently said, "All these Democrats are good for is getting the worst Republicans in history elected and re-elected."

Oh yeah... it was Ralph Nader.

Gravatar Good old Ralph! Hey, Gregory!

Gravatar jon stewart send asaf mandi to the hillary rally tuesday night, and asaf interviewed this guy who swore on camera he'd vote for mccain before obama. he was rather entertaining in a pitiful way.

Gravatar From Christy Hardin Smith at FDL:

"It is time to ratchet up the pressure on members of Congress -- especially the leadership. But every member of Congress -- House and Senate -- needs a call today. McJoan suggests phoning "Pelosi ( 202-225-4965 Fax: 202-225-8259) and Hoyer (202-225-4131, Fax: 202-225-4300) and tell them the Bond bill is unacceptable. Tell them that, if any action is necessary, it would be better to vote to extend the PAA for a year than to give up everything they gained in the bill they passed in February." dday says that Sen. Obama (202) 224-2854, FAX (202) 228-4260) ought to stand up on this issue. I couldn't agree more. "

Gravatar I just got taken to task over at Pam's House Blend for saying that I would be more likely to support a Vice Presidential candidate who didn't speak at the A.I.P.A.C. meeting. In fact, my comment was that I would support Sheila Jackson Lee, Lloydd Doggett, Tammy Baldwin and anybody who didn't beg to speak with A.I.P.A.C. Had some guy accuse my of bigotry and anti semetism. Then he started throwing around stereotypes and offensive words like "Kyke" to make his point that I am anti semetic. I honestly don't understand neocon "logic"

Gravatar No evidence of threat from 'the toilet"
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/ reute..._qaeda_tape_col
There is no evidence of a direct threat from al Qaeda or that the group has obtained weapons of mass destruction, U.S. intelligence officials said on Tuesday, despite reports that al Qaeda will release a new video urging jihadists to use such weapons to attack the West.

Maybe that loose nuke from Minot!
http://mparent7777-1.livejournal...com/ 385558.html
All the generals involved have been fired and all 6 crewmen are dead.

Gravatar I would be more likely to support a Vice Presidential candidate who didn't speak at the A.I.P.A.C. meeting

Ron Paul?

I'm right with you on that Peg. I'm sick of the US government being run by Israel for the benefit of Israel and I'm sick of my tax dollars going for genocide in both Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as Palestine.

Gravatar Ron Paul?
************************************************** ***
Ah, no.

Gravatar Well, as Forest Gump's mom always said, Margaret, "Bigotry is as bigotry does". Or something like that. Did Forest Gump's mom have a name, other than Momma?

Gravatar I too would be more likely to get "on board" if there were someone who would denounce AIPAC. Or at the very least, who refuses to grovel. Ron Paul? Thanks but no thanks.

Gravatar Okay kids, I gotta scoot on out of here; bbl, I hope.

Gravatar Won't it be great to have a President who understands the Constitution of the United States of America.

Gravatar i miss my constitution.

Minot AFB Clandestine Nukes 'Oddities' --By Lori Price, www.legitgov.org Updated: 19 Sep 2007

The following section was compiled by 'The Pundit.'
Since the Minot story broke a week ago about the missing nukeclandestine operation from Minot, we have the following (for those who are paying attention):

1. All six people listed below are from Minot Airforce base
2. All were directly involved as loaders or as pilots
3. All are now dead
4. All within the last 7 days in 'accidents' [Not all of them --LRP]

Silly me, seeing more than there is to this story. I guess this is just another coincidence.

But no doubt now that there will be more coincidences in the near future because as I have stated before, you need about fourteen signatures to get an armed nuke onto a B-52, and they may have told their wives and friends.
http?www.legitgov.org

Gravatar I would love to have a President and/or VP who
1. had read the Constitution
2. believed that when the Constitution refers to "the people" it means BREATHING people, not Corporations

Gravatar Big shake up in with the Air Force brass, according to Yahoo News. It's over the Missing Nukes from Minot. Gates has apparently fired a handful of top guys and some Pentagon civilians, too. Covering his ass, perhaps? Or maybe Rumsfelds or Cheney's.

Gravatar I don't think it would be asking too much of a Presidential candidate to sit down and READ the Patriot Act and it's offspring. Afterall, the presumptive President will now most certainly have been a U.S. Senator. One of which was around and signed the original and the other who was around for the re-authorization. Did Obama sign it? I can't recall.

Gravatar "Gates said an internal investigation found a common theme in the B-52 and Taiwan incidents: "a decline in the Air Force's nuclear mission focus and performance" and a failure by Air Force leaders to respond effectively." from the AP report on Yahoo News.

So they're really not blaming any person per se, it's the fault of the "focus" and the "standards" and "procedures". A few guys will take the fall, and Gates comes out smelling like a June rose, and the "investigation" can be closed. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along....

Gravatar the top military and civilian guys are out of their jobs, ellie. the chief of staff and i forget the other job title.

Gravatar WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush and his top policymakers misstated Saddam Hussein's links to terrorism and ignored doubts among intelligence agencies about Iraq's arms programs as they made a case for war, the Senate intelligence committee reported on Thursday.

"Misstated"??? Whatever happened to that wonderful four letter word "LIED"?

So now they've got this report, and it's been approved and even some Repubs have endorsed it. But now what? NOw they just exchange barbs about who is being "partisan" and who is playing politics and blah, blah, blah. And the press will let little miss Dana Pissypants say ridiculous shit like,

""We had the intelligence that we had, fully vetted, but it was wrong. We certainly regret that and we've taken measures to fix it."

Thousands upon thousands of US soliders and Iraqi citizens dead, maimed, homeless, orphaned, widowed, lives destroyed and they REGRET it? And do tell, Missy, just what measures HAS the Prince of Death taken to "fix It'?
Worhtless waste of air and human organs.

Gravatar blonde info-bimbo dana had a pretty stupid comment too, ellie.

Gravatar the intelligence was NOT fully vetted. bullshit, i say.

Gravatar If it was "wrong", then it could not have been fully vetted, could it now?

Fact is, it was wrong to begin with and they ignored the vetting. That's the crime of it all. They wanted to kill and maim and destroy, so that's what they did, and fuck ANYBODY who gets in the way.

Gravatar OT: I took the evening off to watch Episode 2 of the Dune DVD. I'm concerned with lofty matters, the monstrosity of the Harkonen and their vile scheme to enslave the Freemen. It's Gay Days here in Orlando and I decided to watch Dune instead of going out. I'm a better gay for it. I know I am. The Harkonen are vile!

Nadir, the misogynous union busting asshole?

Fuck him.

Gravatar I was impressed by Obama both keeping Howard Dean on as chair and telling the DNC to stop taking lobbyist and PAC money. I realize that only about 1 percent of their money come from those sources so it's not a particularly big sacrifice and he has demonstrated his willingness to pander to one of the most evil political action committees of all time but it's a start. It's more than Clinton would have done. MUCH more. I'm hoping for bigger changes to come.

Note to Jenn

Last week, there was this girl in a cafe who had The Alps sculptured on her nails. The mountains were raised and in gold, with a soft pearl white/beige for snowcaps and then a glitter on top of that.
In the light , they were hypnotic, like a fire or a hit and run for some people..;. I could not take my eyes off them.

And then of course I thought of you and had myself a nice private laugh that had an aquaintance quite perplexed.
She asked me about it for days afterwards.

Glad to see the place still shaking it up!

Peace all

Gravatar A new contender for the chutzpah crown
http://www.uruknet.info/?p=m4463...&hd=&size=1& l=e
Today's contender, Air Force Brig. Gen. Tom Hartmann, a top official in the impending war crimes tribunal at Guantanamo:

"In the course of trial, they'll have opportunity to present their case, any way they want to present it subject to rules and procedures. That's a great freedom and a great protection we are providing to them. We think...it is the American way."

The "American way." And who can argue? Kidnapped in a foreign country, spirited away to a series of secret prisons, tortured, held without charges or even human contact for nearly seven years, and now they'll have the opportunity to "present their case." Man, if that isn't "freedom" and the "American way," I just don't know what is.

Gravatar A Kinder, Gentler Torture
http://www.inthesetimes.com/arti...entler_torture/
His American jailers spared Al-Ghizzawi the very worst of the worst in the long list of torture techniques now in use. He was not murdered or waterboarded. He did not have a razor blade taken to his penis, nor was he hung from the ceiling by his arms. One might describe Al-Ghizzawi’s torture as a kinder, gentler torture.

In American custody, Al-Ghizzawi was only beaten with chains; bound to chairs in excruciating positions for endless hours; threatened with death and with rape; stripped and subjected to body-cavity searches by non-medical personnel while men — and women — laughed and took pictures.

Among many other brutalities and indignities, Al-Ghizzawi was also posed naked with other prisoners; terrorized with dogs; forced to kneel on stones in the searing heat; left to stand or crouch for extended periods; deprived of sleep; subjected to extreme cold without clothes or covering; denied medical attention; and kept in isolation for years.

Again, as I said: a kinder, gentler torture.....

Gravatar SBT, not sure if you saw this but it's another example for the thread.

http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2008...97591205902495/
An unknown man defecated in several rooms Friday afternoon and left on foot before an officer arrived, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Tuesday. Based on the suspect's description, he appeared to be homeless, a police spokesman said.

It turns out the Homeland office wasn't too secure -- a contractor working for the building's management failed to properly secure a door behind him, said Susan Lasley, spokeswoman for the Minnesota Department of Pubic Safety.

How apropo....

Gravatar What Say Ye, Unrulies?

We have a new anon copy/pasting entire articles into our threads. There is no evidence this person (if it isn't some automated spambot) has read the blog or any of the other comments on the thread. I find this to be rude and annoying, as you have to scroll past tons of shit to get to anything interesting.

Should I ban him? I've never banned anyone before, but this is clearly a breach of well-established netiquette.

Gravatar Should I ban him? I've never banned anyone before, but this is clearly a breach of well-established netiquette.

SadButTrue | Homepage | 06.06.08 - 12:28 pm | #

How perfectly Canadian and American of you. Pussy.

Yes anon. Stop posting about fascism in a thread about..........
HUH?

You really are an old fart.
Best to embrace these people as they link to legit news sources.
I know it offends Canadian sensibilities but then what doesn't?

Rense, Jones and the other loons have been much closer to the truth that your sorry ass has ever been.

Gravatar Now you can ban me too, sir.
This place is a shell of its former self anyway.

Gravatar Unknown Unrulymobster: considering you have the same IP as the person I was talking about, I'm not surprised you feel that way. And you may attempt to portray me as autocratic, but considering the fact that, unlike at other sites, I ASKED the general public what they thought, it doesn't pass the laugh test.

"Now you can ban me too, sir. "

Let no-one doubt that you quite literally asked for it. Let the record show that even though only one vote was cast, that vote was in favor of a banning, and came from the very person under consideration.

DONE. All copy/paste posts will be edited to remove everything but the link. If someone wants to read the articles, they can at least go to the site that published them.

Gravatar Further clarification is in order, because it really upsets me to be forced to ban someone. I have also been forced to edit the comments policy, with the following addition:

" We also will not tolerate copy/pasting of entire articles into our threads. That's plagiarism, and shows a profound disrespect for the author of the article and the legitimate (in that they interact with the other commenters) users of our comments interface.

Rule of thumb. If you come here to post YOUR screed, but are demonstrably not reading the blog, nor the comments of others, you are not welcome.
"

I will add to that that I tend to have MUCH less toleration for an anonymous poster than I do for someone who has bothered to give themselves a monicker, even a new arrival - which I think is what I'm dealing with here. I will also issue this warning - if anyone GOADS me, by challenging me to ban them, they are walking on thin ice. I bend over backwards to try to be fair to everyone, but my patience is not unlimited.

This is NOT about anyone posting something that I disagree with, and any suggestion otherwise would demonstrate a profound unfamiliarity with what I have done at this site from the beginning.

Gravatar Eww, I missed something?
Nice approach SBT. Cudo's.

Ya know Anon, if you had just been brief, all this wouldn't have happened.

Gravatar One final point, and I'll put this behind us. I DID issue a warning on the previous thread, making it clear that my only objection was to the bulk copy/pasting of someone else's post. I put it in bold to make sure Anon/Unknown unruly would see it.
http://www.haloscan.com/comments...2060526/ #125108

The fact that there was no response, and the same behavior continued PROVES that anon was not reading the thread, just dumping his shit on it. And while some of Anon's posts were wildly out of sync with the regulars here, I only objected to the content of this post,
http://www.haloscan.com/comments...2060526/ #125122 which is 180° away from what we usually discuss here. Nonetheless, I let the bulk of that post stand. Once again I emphasize that this is NOT about content or contrary opinion, which we welcome. We might laugh at you for being a neocon Bushbot or an ignoroid dittohead may be severely ridiculed, but we won't ban you.

Gravatar Israel to attack Iran unless enrichment stops: minister
http://www.rawstory.com/news/ moc...h_06062008.html

"If Iran continues with its program for developing nuclear weapons, we will attack it. "...

More pure bullshit from the great artists in the field.

Iran is completely and unquestionably within it's lawful rights to enrich uranium for the purposes of fuel for a nuclear power plant, which is, as has been proven 3 TIMES, what it intends to build. NOT BOMBS!

The Accuser, Israel, on the other hand has refused to allow UN inspectors to verify its nuclear arsenal, refuses to comply with the provisions of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty because it refuses to become signatory to said treaty.

It's a case of the fox accusing the chicken of murders in the hen house. Israel must be held to the same nuclear scrutiny as Iran.

Gravatar Hospital held man in solitary for 20 years, committee says

"But the greatest irony of this tragedy," Veldhuis said, "is that this man was allowed to leave the institution with his family, which has never neglected him, and allowed to travel to Northern Virginia alone with them with no fear that he would present a danger."

Yet the patient was returned immediately to his locked cell, where food is provided to him through a slot in a solid door, Veldhuis said. Access to the outside was allowed only within a 10-foot by 10-foot patio area off his room that was encircled in chain link fencing. ....."

Gravatar Back to the news that matters. From TPMMuckraker: Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), a member of the authoring Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, called today for a review of whether then Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's testimony to Congress was true, given the information in the report.

Short synopsis: Rummy testiLIEd, citing substantial concrete evidence of Iraqi WMD programs that had NO BASIS WHATSOEVER in actual intelligence 'take.'

The report referred to is Phase II of the Senate intel committee's report on pre-war intelligence on Iraq. This looks like it could lead to a number of perjury charges against the former SecDef, and could be the thin edge of a wedge that finally forces the legislative branch to press war crimes trials against the entire Bush administration.

One can only hope (not that past performance of the legislation would give us much cause.)

Gravatar Suzie-Q is doing a nice job of blogging the Rummy story.

Gravatar "...One can only hope ..."

Actually the saying is: Wish in one hand and spit in the other. Which on fills up faster?

SBT, it would be SOOOoo nice, but given the Libby crap and all the other un-prosecuted crimes it's best we don't hold our breath and especially if Nazi Pelosi has any influence in it. .

Gravatar As I said past performance doesn't give us much, if any cause to hope. That's not a good reason to give up entirely, IMO.

Nosy has a ^^^NEW THREAD^^^, BTW.

Gravatar Gutless bastards. NO IMMUNITY!

Gravatar I confess I haven't read the Phase II report... but was there ANY mention of the Downing Street Memos?
