Gravatar Toronto is so deeply involved in sniffing the underwear of the Gay Pride / Gay Marriage / Gay Universe voters, er, citizens that heterosexuals can simply take a hike; hence the focus on 'gender stereotyping'. A man wearing a g-string in Nathan Phillips Square would be worshipped, as long as he declared his homosexuality. In fact, a man dressed as Miss Universe would be given a royal reception by our Socialist Mayor and his minions.

It's all about what they used to say about Arafat -- Toronto never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Had Miss Universe worn a bandolero instead of her sash, and shouted "Death to America!", the bureaucrats would have remained mum.

Or possibly if she had had sex with another woman on stage.

Toronto is a ringside seat at a train wreck.

Gravatar Let's see... Australia or Canada. Tough choice there Arthur. Cold frigid weather, or surf, sun and sand.

Seriously though, what made you choose Australia over any other nation when you left Poland years ago, or was the decision made for you? Just curious.

Gravatar They want her to wear less and you're complaining?

Gravatar Good point there...

Gravatar Why not beat the rush and order all Canadian women to wear burkas immediately. Then the Muslims will love you forever and be your best friends for the rest of your very short lives.

Gravatar No man, they don't want her to wear less, they want her to not "exploit [her body] to attract attention."

I demand we fight for her freedom to exploit her body for my benefit!

Gravatar I sure hope nobody else in my town reads about this. If the People's Republic of Madison (Wisconsin) learns of Toronto’s rule, the councilwomyn will be clawing over each other to pass a similar ordinance.

Gravatar Gasp! I'm past even a snide comment. I'm ready to give up and just become a socialist "troll" and drag my knuckles going to the welfare line like the rest of the libs. This just makes me sick.

Gravatar This is an outrage. To make sure we get everything both Canada and Thailand should be invaded.

Gravatar Someone should invade Toronto. This is the same gang that banned the Barenaked Ladies from playing a concert there in the Nineties.

Gravatar Beautiful women and friendly musicians banned in Toronto? What's next? Idling your car?

Oh. They got that too.

It is nice to know that Canada can be hard on something, even if it is just baby kittens and liberty. I guess it is a start!

Gravatar Me too - It is nice to be from

Gravatar Another outbreak of SARS in Toronto. Sanctimonious Asshole Reflex Syndrome

Gravatar Canada, or at least, Toronto, does not deserve such a fine woman. She should move, possibly down South...

Gravatar As a Canadian from Toronto who lives in Thailand this is just ANOTHER reminder of why I live here not in Canada.

I dread the day I have to go back.

Gravatar They do want her to wear less, they want her to leave the official sash behind. Well the sash can go for all I care.

Gravatar The conservative blog, "Proud to be Canadian", has a write up on this with several pictures of the gay parade participants (crowns, sashes, and nudity all) and compare it to the very beautiful and dignified Miss Universe. Check them out and bang your head on the wall. D'oh!

Gravatar Poor Natalie.
If she wants freedom of expression, she will most certainly be welcome here in NYC.

Gravatar At face value these things always look good. Someone probably was thinking of some violent pornographer or the like when they wrote this law, but they never consider that the demarcation of what is considered reasonable is drawn at various points by different people. Laws like this tend to become unenforceable over time or become (like this one) laughable. Would a woman be allowed to wear a skirt? Aren't dresses stereotypical?

Gravatar "However, city employees invoked a regulation against activities which degrade men and women through sexual stereotypes or exploit their bodies to attract attention."

Tell me it isn't actually written like that... please.

Otherwise every nightclub in Toronto has women "...exploit[ing] their bodies to attract attention."; unless I'm mistaken, that is often the point. So, that is illegal now?

Remind me not to visit.

Gravatar It is the law?... Hmmm! I guess law makers every where are not really interested in important matters!...It seems they should make a law not to make stupid laws!...

Gravatar This is the usual "deck chairs on the Titanic" syndrome that plays out in every country going down for the third time ... there were ten gunfights downtown last night and currently 4,000 buildings in the downtown core are without power since 10:00 a.m. when a lightning bolt hit a tower, ... but the real panic in the city? THE LIQUOR STORES ARE GOING ON STRIKE!

Incidentally, the police chief is whining that the gunfights are the fault of the Americans, who lack "common sense gun control". He failed to spell out how it is America's fault that people are openly bringing illegal weapons into Canada ... I was under the impression that the country into which one is entering is the one that ought to be controlling what comes in with one. Or did they change this?
