Gravatar Tweety + Abramoff = GOP Scum.

Gravatar How soon before some GOPer runs with a hatchet, a knife and a gun through some liberal bar because of comments like this from people like Chris Matthews.

Verizon: Is this the sort of message you endorse?

Here is what I don't get:

What makes the rank-and-file Republican think they are immune from abuse by the government? After us, guess who's next..

Gravatar This is so beyond the pale. Everyone should be outraged by the insinuation.

Gravatar That's just great Mr. Matthews. Any impressionable young teenage boy listening to your show tonight with a hatred for gays and a fetish for Nazi's and guns can use this as a good excuse to go to a local gay bar and shot a few people. Any kind of bashing promotes hatred among the most impressionable. I don't raise my children based on fear and hate so I won't be allowing them to watch your show. And I will boycott the people that advertise on your show. I also find that the things we fear the most are usually a reflection of the things we don't like about our own selves.

Gravatar Exactly what evidence do you have to substantiate any of your ridiculous assertions Mr Matthews? That's what I thought. Jeff

Gravatar Hasn't anyone looked at the unburnt Baptist churches in the vicinity, for some nut in the congregation that wants to get at those other "sinning" Baptist churches? Baptists are famous for church-splitting, a town of 200 families could have 3 or 4 churches, each split from the original church, often though not always with bad blood between the old one and the new one.

Clearly Mathews is a demagogue, and the ATF guy is clueless. I'd vote for a competitor as the perp (or a batshit crazy hearing transmissions from Mars or Jesus) over a non-Baptist outsider any day.

Gravatar also tried to get a response from the minister and his wife, I was pleased when they refused to take his bait. It seemed to take him by surprise.

Gravatar Dear Chris,
Gays don't burn down churches, you freak. But we DO boycott. We do it good and you, well we're just getting started here.

Gravatar I've a better guess. Maybe Chris and his staff have finally gone completely over the hill and taken up arson as a hobby...It seems completely possible.

Gravatar Yea, I watched this tonight. Chris was definitely trying to get bait someone to his theory that the burnings may have been in retaliation to the church's stand on a "social issue".

No one took the bait but he sure kept trying to dangle it.

It really got me thinking. In this day and age of warrantless wiretaps and prosecution without due process under the Patriot Act, what exactly is there to prevent the Bushies from calling these burnings "terrorist" acts perpetrated by "enemies" (i.e. liberals, gays, etc)? Under his "inherent authority", he could summarily round up and ship off anyone he wants to in the name of "national security" without evidence and without the necessity of a trial.

As long as guys like Matthews are willing to plant little seeds of discontent amongst the masses...

Gravatar I doubt a liberal did this.

WTF happened to you Matthews?

Gravatar I watched 2 minutes of "Limpball" during a commercial break and I'll be goddamned if this was the exact point of the program. Matthews said it under his breath and then quickly added another 40 words to his question. (You know how he asked a rambling 82-second question that morphs into nonsense.)

Maybe liberals should start burning down something. Bush has already robbed us all blind.

Gravatar "That's just great Mr. Matthews. Any impressionable young teenage boy listening to your show tonight with a hatred for gays and a fetish for Nazi's and guns can use this as a good excuse to go to a local gay bar and shot a few people."

and that's exactly what happened yesterday in new bedford, mass
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/ 20060...ay_bar_shooting

Gravatar I saw Countdown cover it and mentioned that the five churches that were burned were both predominantly black and white churches. So apparently race had nothing to do with it, but it still raises questions.

Maybe Chrissy should have raised the possibility that someone was disillusioned with religion and that something traumatic happened to that person or persons to make them do that. But, he didn't. He just pontificated on some silly political notion that he knows little or nothing about.

First, Kennedy on molesting that silly Mrs. Alito now gays for church burning. What's next, Coretta Scott King for spitting in Bull Connor's face? How many more lies can that
Bush's bitchboy come up with.

Gravatar I think you might be a bit out on this one. Your headline is misleading. They spent most of the clip talking about all kinds of reasons that were put forth in previous cases. Look again. . .

MATTHEWS: Is there anything in the papers down there where a Baptist church has taken a position on some social issue, gay marriage, something that's hot, where that would have aroused somebody?

Are all gays liberal? Is it some right wing kook who thinks these churches are harboring gays?

MATTHEWS: That's why I'm thinking like that because the more liberal churches would drive some people on the right crazy and maybe a more liberal person, who's gay for example, would feel that they've been terrorized by the beliefs of another church too. We don't know.

Here he speculates it might be a right wing arsonist and then gets to a liberal.

No, we don't know, Chris, so why suddenly suggest that liberals might be the felons?

Fair is fair. Why suggest that a conservative might be? Why a clansman? He didn't belabor the point. I'm inclined to let this pass for the moment. And by the way. . .

MATTHEWS: Tell me about what you think may have, is there any hint as to what's behind this, all these churches getting torched last night?... Is there any issue within the Baptist affiliation, any issues that have caused a lot of anger, any reason why a person would not like the positions taken by your churches?

In court, Chris, we call that leading the witness.

In news, we call it asking a question. Seeking an opinion. Fishing for facts. An answer could go either way on this question. You are out of bounds on this one.

Gravatar Tweety is a lunatic. Plain and simple.

Gravatar Fuck you Tweety

Gravatar Weren't the Weather Underground a leftist terrorist group?

Gravatar We've got to get this dangerous jackass off the air. I look forward to hearing more ideas about how to get through to the sponsors.

Gravatar Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Matthews state that someone may have burned the churches due to their stance on liberal issues? I don't see where he is blaming liberals for torching the buildings. Before you attack me, I am not defeding that asshole Mathews, but in this instance, I don't believe this is an issue.

Gravatar Well, you know that the Baptists are the only church that came out in favor of "The Book of Daniel" that ABC cancelled this week. Maybe it was those evangelicals.

Gravatar With each passing day it becomes worse in America. The fact that people like Matthews has a pulpit on National TV is utterly outrageous. We are in the passing lane in the wayback machine in this country, headed toward the undoing of a hundred years of struggle for justice and equality. The day will come that the breaking point will be reached by the progressive left and the primitive caveman gene will be reactivated and propel millions accross the country into a violent rage of vigilanteism whereby the pelts of those in the mold of Matthews will be held up on flaming sticks and marched through the streets. That day cannot come soon enough!!!!

Gravatar just GOOGLE (anonymously) the words CHRIS + MATTHEWS + ASSHOLE

That says enough!

Gravatar The weather underground wasn't specifically "leftist." No more than the black panthers were.

I wonder what rightist organizations the guy who hacheted the gay bar was.

They would love to get liberals and gays comitting acts of violence. Would give them an excuse to arrest us.

Gravatar No, we don't know, Chris, so why suddenly suggest that liberals might be the felons?

He must have been paying attention to Milwaukee and East St. Louis...

Gravatar Just how many gay liberals are there in Alabama, anyhow? When can we start putting people on these programs who are actual journalists and not just right-win freaks?

Gravatar My letter to all the Verizon execs:

Dear Sir or Madam,
Chris Matthews just suggested on TV that perhaps a gay liberal had set the fires at the Baptist churches in Alabama.

Something is different about Matthews these days. He used to be relatively fair -- not to mention sane. Now he does nothing but impugn liberals every chance he gets. He likened Michael Moore to Osama Bin Laden, he suggested that Cindy Sheehan's recent arrest would reflect badly on the Democrats, now he suggests that gay liberals burned the churches. What is going on?

The polls tell us we're not in the minority. And we are Verizon customers too, millions of us. I've got four phones, one for each member of my family. Notice that though I'm a liberal, I'm not gay. But I'm still angry about this. Pretty soon I'm going to get fed up enough to cancel my account, even if I have to eat the guarantee.

I will not support a company that supports a nut who unfairly attacks me and my family and friends. There are plenty of other companies out there who want my money.

Please do the right thing: Require that Matthews live up to common ethical standards, or drop him and save your good name.

Yours,
Walter Crockett
Worcester, Mass.

Gravatar Matthews has shown himself to be a complete ignoramus of late.

You know, I wouldn't put it past the Republicans (Karl Rove's brainchild, of course) to try to counter all of the negative publicity lately with a new strategy for their bread and butter "red" states: engage in acts of domestic terror and insinuate that it was liberals carrying it out. What better way to shore up the base than to turn the opposition into terrorists? Wouldn't be the first time.

Gravatar I've already written to MSGOP to tell them I'd never watch Chris Matthews again. Now I'll never buy products made by Verizon, Pearle Vision, Office Depot, Bayer Aspirin, Intuit or Toyota.

.

Gravatar Tweety, you better pray that liberals and gays don't start resorting to violent acts against institutions and people that insult, ridicule and otherwise attack us and them...because your sorry ass is gonna be right at the top of more than one list. Hell, you're already on Zell's and he ain't neither (I assume) and you can be assured you're in my personal top ten.

Gravatar Chris is becoming one of the worst examples of a tasteless, surreptitiously partisan news media. What a shame.

Obviously, if someone were to burn down a church because they disagreed with the beliefs of the people, they would be a disturbed person. There political beliefs or personal inclinations would be irrelevant, beside the sociopathy of their actions.

Therefore, either Chris is being deliberately deceptive--trying to suggest that there could be a legitimate reason for anyone in our country to burn down a church--or else, he is subconsciously suggesting that he thinks about doing it. That's why he can suggest it as another person'a behavior. He imagines somebody doing that: himself.

Gravatar my letter to verizon execs and copied to msnbc and all my friends
It's TIME WE ALL STOODUP AGAINST THIS EVIL! WE NEED TO GET A SPINE , if weak minded democrats congress and others don't.
I am just fed up..... America?????

Dear Sir/Madam
I am one of your long standing customers.

I am not usually vocal about what I see on TV, and I have been a fan of 'Hardball' .
Of late I have been greatly disturbed by the comments and 'leading' of guests on the show by Chris Matthews.
I would like to request you please stop associating your product with "Hardball" that
1. compares me to Osama bin Laden
2. thinks "fag jokes" are acceptable on-the-air content.
3. suggesting liberals or gays may have a motive to BURN CHURCHES!

I am passing this message on to all my friends who are your customers of yours, and other products that are advertised on HARDBALL.

It will be a shame to know you support the bigotry that is slowly emerging on HARDBALL on MSNBC

I am copying this to the MSNBC producers of Hardball.
I am blind copying this to my e mail list and hope they will spread this information to theirs.

It is a pity MSNBC is becoming more in line with other FAIR AND BALANCED channel.

Gravatar He mentioned arson at a Unitarian church in Virginia - story linked in this article - but it was actually the United Church of Christ.

(sorry to be picky...but it matters to me because I'm a Unitarian.)

Gravatar I grew up in a town with a large gay population, and I can guarantee Chris Matthews that there are a lot of gays and lesbians out there that he absolutely does not want to fuck with.

I wonder if Chris's wife left him for a woman?

Gravatar wonder if it's time for matthews to replace his kneepads. maybe we should send some to him. there is nothing left on msgop to watch except keith.

Gravatar Irrespective of WHO did this, and it was likely some Christ-hater, it is WITHOUT question the rhetoric of left wing Christ hating sites like this that are at the very minimum vicariously culpable for their non stop spewing of hatred towards all things Christians (a million and one references upon request.)

Does it surprise anybody that somebody with a screw loose actually believes the agitprop you nutcases put up here, in crooks and liars, media matters, huff etc and then runs with it???

Gravatar I'm a little confused. My impression of all this was: A liberal church, being liberal, would outrage a conservative to burn it down, and that some of these fires were ON liberal churches that pissed off conservatives. Where does he say liberals burned a conservative church? Did I miss something?

Gravatar "I'm a little confused."

Of course you're confused Mr. Liberal. If you were clear thinking, you wouldn't be a liberal anymore.

But I really don't blame you liberals for being angry and wanting to blow off some steam.

After all, you tried to block Bolton...

...and Failed!

Then you tried to get Rove indicted...

...and Failed!

Don't forget how you tried to block PRESIDENT Bush's appeals court nominees (otherwise known as the farm system for the NEXT SCOTUS justice he will appoint) like Janice Rogers Brown...

...and Failed!

And of course you tried to block Alito

...and Failed!

But what's worse, you made his wife cry. Not good.

But not satisfied with this amount of self-inflicted political carnage, you went for the Triple Crown of political suicide and tried to filibuster Supreme Court Justice Alito (has a nice ring to it doesn't it?)

But, with John Kerry leading the charge from the Swiss Alps, that effort also

...Failed!

Finally, on the up and down vote, you tried to defeat Alito...

...and Failed!

So, I understand your resentment, insecurity, jealousy and inferiority complex.

But, couldn't you think of some more Constructive ways of channelling all that negative energy than...

...BURNING DOWN CHURCHES???

Just curious....

Gravatar Big Daddy you are wrong and you know it, and you are acting in an antiChristian fashion for putting forth your lying, gossipy right wing bullshit. The big 10 includes not bearing false witness, and nothing about being gay, or liberal.

Jesus was a liberal, and the conservatives of his time killed him using torture.

Remind you of anybody? Who helped kill him? The establishment press, the comfortable, the wealthy, the un-afflicted, the Roman Imperial Government which washed its hands? Those who saw injustice and did nothing?

You killed Jesus, Big Daddy, you and people like you who mock the suffering of the poor, the weak, the downtrodden, and the small in number. Chris Matthews makes Jesus cry every time he spews another right wing lie, because lying is against the commandments, isn't it?
And isn't being a lying sack of shit dishonoring your parents? That's another hit right there.
Thou shalt hold no god before me, well, Mammon worship, the worship of money over all else, seems to be the only disease bigger than AIDS, SARS, Bird Flu, hepatitus and every other plague of modern day. That's three. Don't make me keep going because cretinous right wing liars and abusers like Matthews and Big Daddy make me want to puke. Can't handle the fact that your idols are lying to your face and laughing at you, right in front of your glazed credulous eyes? Eat it, big doody.

Gravatar LOL!! This is great:

"...Big Daddy you are putting forth your lying, gossipy right wing bullshit...

...You killed Jesus, Big Daddy...

...Chris Matthews makes Jesus cry...

...And isn't being a lying sack of shit dishonoring your parents?...

cretinous right wing liars and abusers like Matthews and Big Daddy make me want to puke....

...Eat it, big doody..."

Wow! Yet another liberal meltdown.

Well at least know one can say liberals don't argue...

...logically!

LOL!!!!

Ps No wonder we're in charge of EVERYTHING!!!

Pss Please quit burning down our churches. Thank you.

Gravatar Matthews is looking for his angle on this story. He's getting more "gutter" by the day.

As for Big Daddy:

"Irrespective of WHO did this, and it was likely some Christ-hater, it is WITHOUT question the rhetoric of left wing Christ hating sites like this that are at the very minimum vicariously culpable for their non stop spewing of hatred towards all things Christians (a million and one references upon request.)"

What does "vicariously culpable" mean, oh Big One? That you would like them to be culpable, whether or not they in fact are, so that you can get your hate-bone tickled with righteous wrong-headed indignation? I'm requesting those million and one references, now, please. Put up or shut up.

Gravatar For one thing, Chris Matthews talks so fast that he doesn't have time to think before he blurts out some of his crap.
It should surprise no one that he makes these ridiculous statements. He, like O'Reilly, says whatever dopey idea comes into his brain and says it so fast that even he has not thought about the harm he can do. The main thing is to cause a sensation and they both do that. But a sensation of revulsion, I might add, in both cases. They are not worth watching, not even for a second.

Gravatar Some Liberal writes:

"What does "vicariously culpable" mean, oh Big One?"

Apparently liberals are liberals because they don't get out in the world very much. Ever hear of 'vicarious liability' laws?

Of course liberals are more prone to be guilty of 'vicarious LIEability' lol!

As for the 1,000,001 examples of Christ hate, just see the LIBERAL MELTODOWN post I deconstructed in my last post.

He blamed me for killing Christ.

I think he accused me of singlehandedly doing it.

Apparently, according to liberal logic:

Blaming Jews for killing Christ = very bad.

Blaming Christians for killing Christ = very good.

LOL!!

See, this is pretty easy.

Love,

Gravatar This is what irks me about Matthews. Is he just such a shoddy, lazy journalist, that he can't come up with a way to ask the question of who in general might have an axe to grind, so he just jumps to the easiest solution for his addled brain or has he just become such a bigot that he can't think of anything else, but liberals are always the answer? Either way he is pathetic. In reality it could be anyone setting these fires. If you are out there Matthews--I have seen a lot of church burnings on the news in my day. A surprising number of them are started by a teenagers whose parents are members. It is just as likely that a messed up kid who is angry at his parents started the fires as it is an angry liberal, but as always lazy journalism or bigotry leads you to jump to "liberal/gay first" solution. It could be anyone doing this from a angry baptist to a crazy person who wants to incite violence against liberals to a bitter member who is upset because he didn't move up in the church hierarchy to yes, a gay person who has been driven to the brink by the baptist homophobic rantings. It could be almost any scenerio, but as usual, you have to pick the slimy route and go after the people who you hate and probably get you the biggest ratings bashing.

Gravatar What if these same things had been said by Bill O'Reilly? Keith Olbermann would have named him "Worst Person in the World." I'm not defending O'Reilly; I'm just noting the parallel. Of course, Keith isn't going to criticize his colleague. He's not THAT fair.

Gravatar Maybe --- uh --- let’s see --- I got it! A giant hand reached down from the sky and lit a match from a giant book of matches and that’s what’s causing the fires.

Maybe. Huh? Whadya think, Matthews?

Good gawd, Matthews! You are such a putz.

Gravatar Matthews used to tout himself as "a 'Roosevelt' Democrat." I guess that means he would be a Democrat if the economy were bad enough. Unfortunately for him and for us, things are going from bad to worse but still haven't hit bottom.

Meanwhile, he's coming out of the closet. He's a straight GOP media whore. Obviously, he's paid off every month, or every two weeks, with an envelope for acting the part of "Chris Matthews, serious talk show host."

We all know that's phony. He's a Republican shill and he's paid to attack and discredit Democrats, just like all the other GOP media whores, like Bob Novak, Hannity and Colmes, Bill O'Reilly, Katie Couric, Brit Hume, etc... Obviously, media consolidation has let outlet owners and their advertisers run 24/7 GOP campaign commercials. Fuck them.

I just saw Matthews getting fed cues about how great the Republicans are and how bad the Democrats are. She left unchallenged comments by Matthews like,

"Even though Boehner is tied to lobbyists and payoffs, the Republicans are taking their reform seriously. They're the ones who are making changes to be up to date, unlike the Democrats who haven't figured out what's going on in this century yet."

I realized Chris now has one foot out the closet door: a jackbooted Nazi right foot.

He's being brought in by early morning talk show hosts as a "GOP hit man."

He is now plainly a professional liar, but he's being supported by the GOP corporate media owners and advertisers. Let's get on their case.

Gravatar Spending my Sat. morning sending out letters to each and every advertiser, cc MSNBC on each one:

"Chris Matthews' inflammatory language on Hardball during an interview with an investigator looking into the recent church arsons in Alabama is unacceptable and dangerous. Does MSNBC and (advertiser name) support this kind of homophobic hate-speech and slander from one of its biggest on-air "personalities?"

"Matthews suggested, without any proof at all, that "maybe liberals or gays" were responsible for a series of terrible church burnings this week in Central Alabama. Such irresponsible and reckless rhetoric reflects badly on MSNBC and its advertisers. Matthews' prejudicial allegations encourage hate crimes like the murder of Matthew Shepherd and the recent attack on patrons at a gay bar, where the attacker used a machete.

I urge (advertiser) and MSNBC to stop supporting Chris Matthews' reckless and inflammatory comments."

Join me, y'all, it's a great way to burn off your rage at Chris Matthews. And, it doesn't take that long to do, but it's crucial!

Gravatar Well I've lived in the south for 59 years and I have an opinion about who might be the culprit. I'd be more inclined to think that some redneck
/gun rack toting/ pickup truck lovin
/beer swizzling/never held a real job a day in his life/fire bug/ who once dated a nice Southern Baptist girl who put him down at the Quik-Sak on the eve of the Talladega 500 did this.

Try that on for size CHRIS

Gravatar I have a question, and I wonder if anyone has the answer.

Why does Big Daddy hate America and Jesus with such an irrational passion?

I'll pray for you, Big Daddy. And remember, Jesus loves you, no matter how many kinds of evil you support.

Gravatar I think you've missed his point. He does not state anything like you have surmised. I can't stand the putz, but you're off base here.

Gravatar I may be wrong on this account, but I don't see Matthews here as saying that gays did this or are felons. What I think that he's getting at,and I think that Mathews is unrepentent right wing scum is that the right is so pissed at these churches and their liberal tendencies that they are burning them down

Gravatar I'm sure it's the Baptists burning down their own churches so they can blame liberals and gays.

Chris is a piece of work. Next time I bump into him on Nantucket during the film fest I'm going to call him a 'homo'.

Gravatar "How soon before some GOPer runs with a hatchet, a knife and a gun through some liberal bar because of comments like this from people like Chris Matthews."

Just happened in Massachusetts on Thursday night.

Gravatar I think that Matthews' entire MSNBC gig is his on-air audition for Fox--but even they won't have him because they realize he's so very lame--so MSNBC is stuck with him.

Note that MSNBC has now created an entire new ad campaign for him. Face it, it doesn't matter how many advertisers we contact, how many letter we write, or what we do--this is the message that MSGOP and their corporate parent--the DEFENSE CONTRACTORS--want to present. He's being rewarded for spinning blatant lies like this and for attacking the left for no reason whatsoever, and doing it on a nightly basis.

Gravatar Note that MSNBC has now created an entire new ad campaign for him. ----------
Yep, so the only solution is to stop watching his ridiculous show and give him the Dennis Miller send-off or at least make his crappy ratings even worse. It is obvious, that his sponsors share his bigoted rightwing ideology, so the only thing we can do is tune him out...His sponsers won't be real happy spending all that money on a show that no one watches.

Gravatar I'm sure it's the Baptists burning down their own churches so they can blame liberals and gays.

---
Or the Bushies. What better propaganda during an election year when you are in trouble then to set up liberals as church burning atheists...

Gravatar Perhaps the conservatives burned down those churches in order to have something to blame on the liberals and gays!

Gravatar I don't even know anyone that watches Hardball. Piss on Matthews--he's a has been.

Gravatar I dont see Matthews in this case is saying that liberals or gays are burning down the churches. I dont get your interpretation from his quotes.

Matthews says enough crazy things outright that we dont have to stretch to nitpick at things like this.

Gravatar Here's my letter to Toyota:

Mr. Esmond,

I am writing today to let you know that I am very displeased to know that Toyota is advertising on the show Hardball with Chris Matthews.

You see, I have been a Toyota customer for many years. Just recently my wife and I each bought a Scion; she has the XA and I have the XB. We are very pleased with our new cars, and have always maintained that we would buy from Toyota again. In fact, for a second car I am considering a Toyota 4WD. You can say that I helped contribute to the lack of sales for American cars by purchasing two cars made in Japan. However, I am now reconsidering whether my next car will be a Toyota.

I happen to be of the opinion that news shows should not be biased for the simple reason that biased reporting misleads the American public in believing the falsehoods that people like Chris Matthews constantly spout. He has demonstrated his willingness to spread biased information in support of his personal political ideals. In fact, Chris is highly embedded in Washington social circles, and therefore makes it difficult for him to maintain his objectivity.

By adverstising with MSNBC, and specifically, Hardball with Chris Matthews, you are helping them proliferate a plethora of falsehoods that are damaging to our nation. A majority of the U.S. population is not informed enough to discern false reporting from the actual truth.

Please reconsider your decision to advertise on Hardball. While I believe that every company should be free to make their own decisions on where to advertise, I feel that your continual support of Hardball leaves me no choice other than to buy from a manufacturer other than Toyota. I refuse to buy from a company that supports the spread of falsehoods over our public airwaves.

Sincerely,

JM (redacted)

Gravatar Did Chrissy comment on the attack in the gay bar in Massachusetts?

Gravatar Methinks Chrissy Doth Protest Too Mucheth!

Gravatar I have been emailing Matthews show sponsors and so far have only received a computer generated form letter [from Verizon but none of the others],that ackowledges my letter is about Matthews but nothing more. I am interested in a new coordinated strategy to bring this to the attention of advertisers. My letters to NBC and MBNBC have been ignored.

Gravatar Maybe gay liberal ATHEISTS. Or maybe the guys chanting "God Is Great, you suck" over in Syria, who just burned down the Danish embassy there.

Ain't religion great?

Gravatar Are the rest of you getting POed by the generic e-mails that these companies are sending back after our complaining e-mails, saying they don't REALLY know where their advertising ends up, as though they just scatter their ads to the wind and hope they land on the right programs? What a crock! A company is not going to advertise without doing the demographics, and if a company advertises on a program as lowly rated as Hardball, then the only reason it could be doing it is because it tacitly endorses the views expressed on the program. Don't let them get away with their condescending bull in their e-mail replies to your latters. Give them hell and DO NOT LET THEM OFF THE HOOK!!!

Gravatar Are the rest of you getting POed by the generic e-mails that these companies are sending back after our complaining e-mails, saying they don't REALLY know where their advertising ends up, as though they just scatter their ads to the wind and hope they land on the right programs? What a crock!
---
Yes, I'm thinking that we need to brainstorm on this and come up with a new approach. There has to be a way to put some heat on these companies and Matthews....It is definately not time to give up, but I do think we need to come up with a new strategy.

Gravatar Don't forget, it was a Right Wing Extremist who blew up the Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

Gravatar Lots of them gal liberals in Alabama now, huh? I never would have thunk it until Matthews set me straight!

Gravatar I meant gay liberals not gal liberals.

Gravatar Don't forget, it was a Right Wing Extremist who blew up the Federal Building in Oklahoma City.
---
And a right wing extremist bombed the Atlanta Olympics. But, as always Matthews immediately jumps to the "liberal" scenerio. Funny, how his mind always jumps to the left did it scenerio. For those who say these are unimportant comments, I disagree. This is exactly the kind of subtle propaganda that has helped Republicans grab an unprecidented amount of power. People like Matthews nightly make slanderous suggestions-night after night-hour after hour-drip,drip,drip-until they shift the way people think. Slowly, but surely people start believing the LIE, no matter how much what they say flies in the face of reality. It's time to stop the liars from creating reality.

Gravatar Who the fuck is Chris Matthews and why is he on MSNBC?

I'm boycotting this piece of shit station.

Gravatar Atheist would not burn churches. They are one of the most moral group I know.

Gravatar I don't believe there are that many coordinated Gay liberal groups in Alabama. So, I think that Chris is just throwing the 'liberal' word out in an election year.

Come on Chris, you're better than that. Get back to journalism and dialog, not fear based ratings.

I think that this is just a ratings grabber and mayber to grab some of the right wing church-goers who don't look beyond what the 'TV guy/gal' says and just believes what they say. Is it true Chris? are you playing to that crowd? MSNBC just dropped in crediability and it was Chris Matthews who led the decline of reporting.

What I don't think this is-is a gay joke. So, let's not make Chris out to be a gay-basher, just a ratings grabber.

Gravatar Time to call for an all out boycott of both Hardball and their sponsers! Obviously contacting them has not worked so lets hit them where it hurts! I for one have already changed to cingular (it is a much better company anyhow)! So come on....lets get started!

Gravatar I've boycotted Matthews for years....oops I've boycotted MSNBC, NBC, FOX, and CNN too- why submit to propaganda? Matthews and Russert are corporate whores. I'll stick to C-SPAN, FSTV, and the internet for the non-corporate pig news thank you. Our country would be alot saner if people read newpapers to read between the lines. We're being fed B.S. regularly and most Americans don't even know it.

How sad.

Gravatar If Liberal churches are being burned wouldnt it be much more likely that some conservative was the arsonist?

Gravatar actually, with all the crap liberals have gotten over the years, why not?

Gravatar Why would Hardball even have a lead story on the burning of churches-it's not political unless of course you are trying to appeal to the religious right-

Gravatar Just remember:

Chris Matthews rapes six year old boys.
Chris Matthews rapes six year old boys.
Chris Matthews rapes six year old boys.
Chris Matthews rapes six year old boys.

Gravatar Chris Matthews is masquerading as a journalist when in fact he has become a propagandist for BushCo. While those of us who are media savvy get it, Matthews is pushing the Big Lie on television five nights a week and calling it news.

More on the concept of the Big Lie from Wikipedia:

This technique, he believed, consisted of telling a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe anyone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously". The first documented use of the phrase "big lie" is in the corresponding passage: "in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility".

Joseph Goebbels' technique which he claimed to have gotten from the English (a Big Lie right there!) is having the In other words a lie (especially a whopper such as Iraq was involved in 9/11) told repeatedly will end up being believed.

...

I'm afraid that Matthews has completely gone over to the "other side" and is now taking orders from Herr Rove. NBC seems to have gone off the deep end too.

This trend of NBC going Wing Nut is scarey as hell. While I've disliked and distrusted NBC for years, they've gone over the top lately on many fronts. Russert is beyond belief, Matthews is acting like he's possessed, Ann Coulter does a softball interview with Matt lauer on the Today Show, Gene Shallit reviews Brokeback Mountain as essentially a "stalker movie".

Gravatar Maybe, they were burned down by stupid
Irish Catholics, like Chris Matthews?

Gravatar I've sent some letters but I would like to send more. The problem I'm experiencing is I would like a COMPLETE list of all sponsors without having to cut and paste. Isn't there any way you can make this simpler for us? How about a "web form" letter for us to send where we send it once but you fill in the addresses for us?

Just wanting to make the process easier for us to get this FAT CREEP off the air!

Gravatar Are the rest of you getting POed by the generic e-mails that these companies are sending back after our complaining e-mails, saying they don't REALLY know where their advertising ends up, as though they just scatter their ads to the wind and hope they land on the right programs? What a crock!
---------------------------------
Here is an idea. How many print journalists do you think might want to take a shot at Matthews? He is a pretty smug kind of guy, especially when he is putting the boots to anyone who has any disagreement with the Administration.

Here's a story that is too delicious to pass up by each and every single newspaper outlet - case in point, Judith Miller. Some journalist is going to have fun about Matthews' "objective journalism." Start sending them the same emails that the advertisers are ignoring and let these advertisers read that they are ignoring them - watch how quickly they start trying to spin this.

"Good luck Jim..."

Gravatar 'Course, the locals believe it's meth-fueled teenagers...

Gravatar has anyone organized, say, a protest outside a toyota dealership in like west hollywood or somewhere else with a high gay population? or office depot? i don't know how that would work for verizon, though.

Gravatar This may be getting a little far-fetched to the point of absurd, but--is there not the likelihood for where the church burnings may have actually been an "inside job" by "dirty tricks" squads and drookies with connexions to His Fraudulency's Great Within, and acting on direct (howbeit coded) orders therefrom (not to mention being expected to deny any and all knowledge of said acts, deeds or exploits if and when pressed)?

Gravatar Burning churches--the Canuck letter taken to absurdity. Rat-fucking, I think, is the technical name for these dirty tricks if memory serves me.

Gravatar Rather than blame anybody to fuel hatred, no matter which side you're on, shouldn't we leave it up to our "infallible" police to solve these crimes? Shouldn't Tweety just shut the fuck up and talk about things that really matter like human suffering? Perhaps someone set these fires to cover up setting one fire to collect insurance. Who knows?

Gravatar I'm shocked that MSNBC has allowed Chris Matthews to remain on the air after his"fag joke" regarding Brokeback MTN. If that wasn't enough, we now have to endure his little tirade that calls us "arsonists" in the destruction of 6 Southern Baptist churches in Alabama. My partner and I will contact all of his promoters and advise them we will no longer buy their products until they remove their sponsorship. I hope it makes a difference.

Gravatar It's no surprise that NBC is going right wing. How ironic it's happening as The West Wing gets cancelled.

Gravatar Chris Matthews -- who does he remind me of?

Gravatar I'm not sure I understand what the problem is with the posters who aren't getting Matthews' point. Are you just commenting without actaully having seen or read (with comprehesion) what Chris said.

Chris' point was that since right wing extremists have burnt churches down in the past for racial reasons, or the liberal church in Virginia in the past for their liberal stance on issues), that he thought it possible that these burnings of conservative Southern Baptist churches may have have been done by liberals / gays who did not like their stances on issues such as gay marriage.

Do you see now?

Chris never said the churhces burned in Alabama were liberal, that was when he was referring to a churh in Virginai burned in the past.

Chris was trying to say that since the right wing has taken out their anger in the past by burning black and/or liberal churches...

Then maybe this time it was the liberals taking out their anger by burning conservative churches.

Of course, he has no basis for this whatsoever. I don't recall ever hearing about any left wing group or person taking out their anger with this kind of violence.

He's crazy.

And, those of you who don't get the point he was trying to make, should READ THE ENTIRE VERBAL EXCHANGE

What is it that Psychiatry says about homophobes? Something about latency I believe.
Studies have also indicated that a decrease in Testosterone level in aging white man may cause early dementia. A medical and Psychiatry evaluation may be needed here!

Gravatar It's really time they were sued. Slander, incitement to murder, false accusations, impersonating a human being. The channels that broadcast him, the companies that sponsor him, and he, personally, should have the pants sued off them.

Gravatar Camus, thanks for the thought, but the gay community does not claim Chris Matthews and you can keep him, thank you very much. It's easy to turn the table on bigots and claim that maybe they are gay, but it's probably NOT true and it REALLY is insulting to gays.
We don't want your Hitler, Stalin, rapists, hatchet murderers, Helms, or G.W. Bush laid on our doorstep even if it is cute to speculate. Hate carries it's own motives and pseudo-psychological jokes get really old when they are used for every horrible hate crime that pops up.

Gravatar TOYOTA - Screwed over disabled American workers by hiring John Roberts, now Chief Justice of SCOTUS (thank you, TOYOTA), as its counsel in its fight against them.

The Prius, despite its wannabe progressive credentials, is one car that will never be welcome in my garage.

Gravatar Does he not leave the option of a conservative constituent being the accused due to the church being too liberal?

You're giving people who truly fight for truth a bad name.

Continue to twist facts...by all means, you might land a gig at the White House.

Gravatar I just e-mail Matthews asking him if he was going to condemn Methodists after today's arrests.
