I get the impression Tweety would like to rent a place on Fire Island with Bush for the summer.

Matthews is not right-wing. He's an independent, who has Democratic leanings philosophically, but knows he has to run a TV program.
The very matter of being on TV and being a cable personality means he needs to rattle cages on both sides in order to make buzz.
While it's true that Matthews voted for Bush in 2000, he voted for Kerry in 2004.
Just keep in mind that just because he can play devil's advocate with apparent fortitude does not make hiim a right-wing advocacy journalist.

Our Karl Rove, the problem with Chris Matthews is not that he plays devil's advocate. I used to watch Chris nightly back when he did act like a neutral journalist who attacked both sides, but the past year he has become an infomercial for the right. He doesn't tell the truth anymore. He slanders people the right use as scapegoats with inaccurate statements. He distorts the truth in a clearly rightwing fashion. He is not playing devil's advocate. He is playing devil's handmaiden.

Something truly is wrong with Chris Matthews He, unlike many media whores, doesn't give the definite impression that his servicing of the administration is a conscious or voluntary act; yet night after night he shills for them in a peculiar, jerky style. His will is obviously compromised in some way. An actual "Manchurian Journalist".
For an example let’s jump midstream into the middle of a line of Trent Duffy’s incoherent gobbledygook from last night's "Hardball":
Duffy: "...but the situational awareness that the President was talking about was, you know, making sure that the next hurricane this size roars ahead, we have to have the ability to talk to people; we have people on the ground."
Matthews: "But just to put that in simple terms; wasn’t the president saying that: if he watched television he could see what was happening on the ground; with other networks; not ours. All networks were down there and he could get an appreciation of what was going on in a way he couldn’t get through the bureaucracy at that point..."
Duffy: "No, and that is true, um, and..."
Matthews: "That’s what I thought he meant."
Duffy: "No, and that’s what I was saying, and I didn’t mean to get into it..."
Matthews: "Let me ask you about this ‘cause I want to give you a chance...Thank you for coming over here today. One of the things that there’s a correction about - and maybe we’re being unfair about it; tell us if we are. We saw those briefings going on... and he was getting input and he was congratulating and urging everybody to work. Good leadership, I guess; but then we heard a tape of the president three days after Katrina hit where he said that no one had anticipated that the levees would be breeched ...how could it be that no one anticipated it, in his words, if he was warned that it might happen?
Duffy: "Well again, he was warned and the White House was concerned about the integrity of the levees; on the tapes and the transcripts..."
Matthews: "Right"
Duffy: "You have deputy Chief of Staff Joseph Hagen asking on August 29 what is the status of the levees and as of noon on the 29th Governor Blanco was saying we don’t have any confirmation that the levees have been breeched. What the president said in the aftermath of the storm was that he was reflecting the collective judgement and wisdom and sentiment of just about everybody on the morning of August 30 when New Orleans had in fact dodged somewhat of a bullet in the fact that the storm had gone 15 miles to the east."
Matthews: "So he was talking about that moment of relief we all shared: the morning of we had missed the bullet."
Duffy: "That’s exactly right, and, um.."
Matthews: "He was saying, just to clarify the record; he was saying that no one - none of the experts - thought that the levees might be breeched."
Duffy: "He did not mean to portray that; that’s exactly right."
Matthews: "See how much we get done when you come over here

-continued from post above -
Matthews: "See how much we get done when you come over here!?"
Duffy: "Yes; absolutely."
Matthews: "Isn’t this great?"
Duffy: "This really goes to the point... (Duffy goes on at length ignoring the point)"
Matthews: "I wish we had you every night. Its great to have you, Trent."
You can almost tell when Cheney’s little nano-bots start tickling Matthews’ hypothalamus to reinforce the appropriate Pavlovian behaviors. Why else would a professional newsman cater to such drivel with such a lack of dignity; such enthusiastic sycophancy? All Duffy had to do was to randomly string a bunch of words and phrases together, and Matthews made them into a case for the administration.
How and when do they insert this insidious technology into our journalists?
Personally, I think it was at the Christmas Party... with the pictures...and Santa Bush.....Isn't this great?

Yeah, he does sound like someone force fed him the coolaide. He used to be one of the only media people I could stand to listen too and then he transformed into this Neocon suckass promoter. What makes you even more suspicious is the fact that when Bush goes in the toilet with pretty much everyone, but hardcore republicans hate him and instead of backing off, he is promoting Bush in more and more ludicrous and pathetic ways. I seriously wondered if they have on the guy...with the J. Edgar Hoover spying they've been up to, yah gotta wonder. We've seen too many times the past 5 years how someone who criticizes Bush does a complete reversal the next day and starts promoting him.

Yeah! What a great idea! Lets have the Bush's deputy minister of propaganda on every night so we can get to the bottom of things!
P.S. There is going to be a special place in hell for Bush, his controllers, and his supporters.

We're all AMERICAN TAXPAYERS here even Mr. Matthews, And maybe deep down we are all more than a little disapointed in the way OUR TAXDOLLARS are being spend. Perhaps even Mr. Chris Matthews? CITIZEN'S SIGNATURES AND TAX PROTESTS WORK!!
VOTER INITIATIVE ON THE BUDGET AND TAXES - THE FINAL SAY-SO FROM YOU - THE
TAXPAYER.
This concept is - that you, the taxpayer - since it is YOUR money - should have
total control of how much taxes come out of your pocket to support your
government, and with a 'yes' or 'no' - final say-so - agreement vote, a go or
no-go vote, on any and all budgets that said taxes contribute toward.
In other words, if you agree with how your tax dollars are going to be spent -
you vote yes. And if you don't agree - then you vote no, at which time the
legislature will have to come up with a budget that the taxpayers will agree to
vote yes on. Otherwise, the money just doesn't get spent - it sits in the
treasury.
Afterall, you own all three - the money, the pocket it comes out of, and the
government it's spent on - it's your money, not theirs.

Is there anything going on at this site? Any new initiatives? What about Chrissy asking if Hillary was a socialist? Or the "greatness" of Boner? How about taking down this site if there's nothing left to say or do?

Matthews claimed that "Everybody sort of likes the president, except for the real whack-jobs, maybe on the left." I don't find him likeable except on the doofus uncle that everyone chuckles at level. And I'm not a whack-job on the left. I'm about as centrist as you can get. Perhaps Matthews characterizes everyone who is anywhere to the left of his beloved prez as as whack job. Guilty as charged.

Political Satirists Move Over - Edward Eugene Baskett Is Playing Hardball
It’s politically daring, it’s witty and it will have you pondering things you’ve never thought of before. What is it? Edward Eugene Baskett’s new hit book I Call Him Christopher: My Letters to Chris Matthews of Hardball.
I Call Him Christopher is 100 pages of colorful opinions and observations that have been sent to Chris Matthews; host of the MSNBC series Hardball and Edward has been nothing short of amazed at how many times something he’s talked about in his letters have actually been acted upon by Chris and the Hardball staff. His topics range from fun items such as the length of Chris’ hair to hard hitting material about Social Security, President Bush’s attitude on political topics, gay rights, the Michael Jackson molestation trial verdict, Ann Coulter, Mary Baker Eddy’s Christian Science movement and he even takes on the Trinity Broadcasting Network Sex Scandal as well as his own tryst with the Reverend A.A. Allen.
When political website owner Dean Esmay caught a glimpse of I Call Him Christopher, he was compelled to share his thoughts on the book. “Political junkies will probably think I CALL HIM CHRISTOPHER looks promising. I know I do! What a golden find! Shamelessly, I spammed everyone I know. I have been chuckling all day, even after several trips back to his sites. Have you read everything the dude’s posted on the web? My, my, the things they make in Clarita, Oklahoma. We owe his parents a debt.”
Professor of English Steve Vermillion agreed with Esmay’s assessment saying, “The letters are articulate, engaging, erudite, and full of wry and ironic humor, while, at the same time, demonstrating that their author has a firm and knowing grasp of the complex and mercurial issues at hand.”
I Call Him Christopher is Edward Eugene Baskett’s second published title. His first is titled Entrapped and he is currently working on his third titled I Leap Over Their Heads, the true story of the battle between General Electric and Christian Scientists.
I Call Him Christopher: My Letters to Chris Matthews of Hardball is available at Signing Stars (www.signingstars.net), Amazon.com or can be ordered through an assortment of book retailers worldwide. Interviews with Edward Eugene Baskett can be arranged by calling or e-mailing Judith Moose at JM Media Group.

are you kidding? I don't care what poll it is, no news program will show a poll that accurately describes ALL of the US' opinion, its just too large of a sample. a poll can't prove a thing his way or your way. I just finished watching chris mathews interviewing murtha and irey, and its ridiculous how far left he was leaning in these interviews. he allowed murtha to leave questions unanswered numerous times but grilled irey on questions someone on her team recommended mathews ask of murtha. I work for the army, the majority of us are with him, zogby's poll is entirely inaccurate.

Why does chris Mathews,Brian Williams and Tim Russett all bad mouth hillary? I am so thrilled when Kieth Olberman gets on because he has enough gall to call it like it is instead of acting like limbaugh and oreilly. Get off her back. I thought Big Russ taught tim better.

Chris Matthews, you really must be putting on loads of lip balm lately. The way you've been kissing Obama's ass is really obvious to your diminishing public. Your program, and Keiths, don't tell the truth anymore. You lie and or stretch the truth to the point of disbelief if it doesn't fit your left wing agenda. How pitiful you both are and how pitiful for MSNBC to be near the bottom in the ratings. You will all reap what you sow. Pitiful

Chris Matthews,
Only idiots believe that our CIA types will refrain from doing waterboarding in the future. We will simply pass the work on to our willing coalition military men of wisdom, or do it in distant countries far from Cuba.
Do we let the terrorists fly planes into the Los Angeles skyline filled with jet fuel?
The terrorist killers will be welcomed to the fiery walls of Hell in the hour of death. Study church history and you will see that Muslims were kept at bay by the Roman Catholic Crusades. This phenemenon is not a new thing.
A Judeo-Christian nation will not attack former President Bush and Cheney who kept us free from these monsters. Secular, liberal humanists not in the faith will always step up to the plate, thus endangering our children as well as their own.
We are the 'UNITED' States and not fragmented citizens who will not stand up for our national leaders in protecting our legal electorate.

Sen Gregg Judd is full of _____. I worked for the insurance industry for 11 years and saw the corruption, and indifference in the system. They tell you your "agent" will be there. When claim time comes, they will threaten him and his family and his insurance benefits if he stands for you and your famly against their "claim adjuster" whose reason to exist depends on deniying benefits wherever pssible...to come in under his "qouta"-ed monthly payouts. It's how the capitalist markets.... are "supposed to work". And they are right to do so. The CEO's have to protect the assets and jobs of their empire. However, they've seen this crisis coming for decades and because of GREED the've never addressed it.
When the "market" does not satisfy the needs of "We the People" then the Preamble of the Constitution applies. ...in order to form a "more perfect union", government is empowered to provide for "We the People", and therefore "establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, promote the general welfare....". If we don't like it we can go back to the Articles of Confederation and the abject failure this nation endured as England waited for us to fail.
The insurance industry had many years to solve this problem. They could've formed as association of companies much like our Rotaries serve the commnuity through service & benevolent association. They could've nipped all this in the bud. They have not and obviously have some inherent flaw in their sector, the nature of mankind and of the marketplace that has led to neglect.
Call it what you like; it now becomes the role of government. We'll see how this "great experiment in democracy" handles it and we'll adjust accordingly and with the great faith of Washington, Lincoln, FDR and our past leaders that established and saved this Union.
