Matthews needs to allow his CPA to release a signed affidavit containing an itemized list of fees Matthews received (date, time, amount, organization, etc.) and an itemized list of Matthews donations (organization, amount, date, etc.).
Then, confirm the donations with each organization.
Also, is he claiming the donations on his taxes as deductions? If so, even his donated proceeds benefit him financially.
May I also suggest a post on the recent "found video" where Matthews gleefully slams Democrats with DeLay and says he "owes" DeLay?

Well said, Steve. Are the rest of you aware that most conservatives view Matthews as a Left-leaning journalist? I certainly do. But I also view him as one of the few on the Left who will listen to a conservative viewpoint and, if it passes the test of truth and logic, will acknowledge that fact.
Matthews possesses the sharpest mind of any of the news talk TV hosts, so even though I see a bit of a tilt to his take on the news (Left), he's the one I watch the most consistently because he really attacks issues in search of the truth.
The boys over at Fox are more in line with my political viewpoint, but they don't have anyone who can go toe-to-toe with Matthews. Also, the ever present spin to the Right of the Fox commentators is just as annoying to me as the more pervasive liberal spin from the wrong-headed media outfits.
