I guess I see another angle to this story you've developed so well. I see that Kaplan by not caring that speaker's fees were being paid, and by being what I call "the usual Republican successful businessperson egotist", got himself in a situation for which he had no way out. I am so sure that this is not only a right wing occurence, but why then do I see it over and over again in those of the right wing? Right on up to our "leadership"?
I also see that that I've also seen in so many not quite famous enough persons in politics; i.e. You can't touch me because I know so-and-so. I had lunch last month with him.
Lastly, I also see greed. Huge $$$ signs dancing in front of the eyes of the non-partisan Chris Matthews. As he became ever more popular in his own eyes due to fulfilled greed, Kaplan and other hangers-on felt some of that glory rub off onto them. Star Power shared?

Mr Matthews think he is great. Money has spoiled this man. His dad was a democrat, he probably was to working for Sen Moynihan etc Now all the big bugs pouring in, he talks from both sides of his mouth. Once I heard him say" What does she know" about Hilary, Even if you dont like her. thi was a very stupid question. When she was running for Senate, he asked what has she done! Is this man crazy, or plain stupid like Limbaugh!Then he chummies up to Tom Delay, who no one, noone except perhaps his wife and lobbiists like. You see more and more these highly paid, half ass reporters interviwing each other and promoting each others diarry books.Where has the good old American press gone, that didnt cow tow to the rich and powerful?? Personally as members of the mass media, it is against professional ettiquette to publicly voice out opinions regarding politics and ohter topics that are being covered by the media network you belong to. It is also completely unfair to say that as a member of the media one is not allowed to pick sides, this is completely ignorant thinking but it is part of a media personnel's responsibility to keep these thoughts to oneself hence they affect the public's opinion. Mr. Matthews and Mr. Kaplan are both guilty of professional misconduct, as boss Mr. Kaplan should have held the leash tightly while Mr. Matthew is guilty of violating ettiquette and decorum.

To me it seems so obvious that these Chris Matthews quotes are completely innocent. He's not saying that Michael Moore is anything like Osama bin Laden!
He's saying that Osama bin Laden is trying to gain popularity by echoing the rhetoric of the American left. That doesn't mean Osama bin Laden is similar to Michael Moore; it just means that bin Laden is cynically trying to exploit Michael Moore's material.
Any normal person who read Chris's comments would understand what they mean. His repeated clarifications make it extra clear.
I am just about as far to the left as you can go, especially when it comes to issues of war and peace. I have always opposed the war in Iraq. This has nothing to do with right or left. I just think you should work on an actual issue, rather than Swift boating Chris Matthews based on a misinterpretation of what he said.
I think Matthews is scum for demonizing Michael Moore. Moore has more patriotism in his little finger than Matthews will ever have in his entire body.
Matthews' cowardly pandering to the Bush regime shows his contempt for America and American values.

Why do you always keep showing McCain and Palin's messages and let the Republican representitives do most of the talking? You did not show not one of Barack'scampainings today at all. You did not let the Democrate spokes woman do hardly any talking.. Why are you doing all of the Republicans advertisments for them? Will you please be fair? Anyone who thinks Matthews isn't one of three (Olberman and Maddow as well) liberal cheerleaders on MSNBC just isn't rational. Hannity is the only truly irrational conservative on FoxNews (he's an idiot) and I'll give you O'Reilly too, but MSNBC has swung so far in the other direction to "combat FoxNews" it's pathetic. Whatever happened to objectivism? What happened to journalistic integrity? Matthews has no credibility left with me after drinking a toast on air to Barack Obama. Come on, people. The fact that you have actually devoted this much time to combating the "conservative media bias" on television (MSNBC no less!) is sad. Brit Hume and maybe Lou Dobbs are the only people I even barely trust anymore, since Russert died. The rest of it is a bunch of idiots yapping on TV. If you're so concerned, campaign for a return to journalism and an end to pop culture talking heads and op-ed "news" on all the stations. Just the facts ma'am, so to speak, and let Americans make educated decisions rather than being told what to think.
