Hey Chrissy,
I agree with you that a solution to homelessness would be an interesting thing to do with $30 Million. I sometimes wonder about trying to get homeless people to move from the colder states to the warmer states in the winter. Or even getting them to work on farms.

Interesting.. I would definitely migrate to a warmer place if I were in that situation.

The problem is you can give a homeless man ten thousand dollars and chances are in two weeks time he will be back on the street still homeless sometimes its the mindset that needs to change. You have to fill up peoples toolboxes with the skills they need to walk through life

That's what I was saying the six month program was for.. I'm not just giving them money.

Homeless people do move south in the winter. New Orleans used to fill up with them in the winter time.
I think that the training idea is great. Many organizations do that kind of work. They are usually unseen but you might see them listed in your United Way form. (Sorry, I just had to attend a promo at work.) Those organizations never have enough money or hands. They would welcome 30 million.

The old saying 'walk a mile in someone's shoes' rings very true in regards to the homeless. It's a vicious cycle that once on is difficult to get away from. I can't think of too many companies that would be keen to hire someone who cannot provide a home address and who cannot turn up to an interview groomed to perfection.
Thanks for posting this - awareness for any cause can only work when the population has as much access to information as possible.
Best Wishes,
Zathyn

There is a chinese proverb, "If you want to feed a person for a day, you give him some food. If you want to feed him for 10 years, you got to plant tree. And if you want to feed him for life, you got to teach him to fish." As what you mentioned, your program will certainly achieve that!

Where Go The Boats?
(1)
Dark brown is the river,
Golden is the sand.
It floats along forever,
With trees on either hand.
(2)
Green leaves a-floating,
Castles of the foam,
Boats of mine a-floating
Where will all come home?
(3)
On goes the river
And out past the mill,
Away down the valley,
Away down the hill.
(4)
Away down the river,
A hundred miles or more,
Other little children
Shall bring my boats ashore.
