Very touching account. I also had a teacher who did that for me. At one time I wanted to be a teacher in order to have that same affect.
Oh Chrissy, it is not until we are in our 20s and I am seeing how bad your childhood was. At one time, we were very close, I can honestly say I never knew anything was wrong at the time. I sit and think now at some of the things that I remember, and I think to myself, why did I not question it? But what is a 13/14 year old to do other than be a friend and make funny home videos with 
You helped more than u know. The bad parts were over by that age I was just really angry at them and thats mostly why i fought with my mom all the time. Now she has left me for a 300 dollar check and I am at peace with it. It's better now that I don't have any reminders.

Teachers like that are worth their weight in gold. I loved learning but hated school and left at fifteen. I did have a teacher very similar to the one you described and I'm still grateful for everything she tried to do for me.
