According to the Guardian, Nasrallah has said he will accept it, but reserves the right to continue attacking Israeli troops so long as they remain in Lebanon.

I suspect both sides are thinking they may as well say they are going to accept it, so as not to be perceived as deal-breakers. They know perfectly well that there is very little chance this resolution wil actually be enforced. The history of enforcement of UN Res. in the Middle East leads one to suspect they are right.

Look at this pathetic line and spin:

Siniora: Cease-fire resolution shows that `whole world has stood by Lebanon` (AP)

The spin is in full force to show that the US, France and the "whole world" is supporting Lebanon and its weeping PM; after destroying it, that is.

History will judge Seniora harshly. And most of the other participants in this sorry saga.

you are like neocons in reverse. you are what you proclaim to hate.

Gravatar Tony,

Why oh Why did Hizbullah support this HORRIBLE RESOLUTION???

It legitimizes occupation. It does NOTHING about Sheeba Farms. It brings in outside armies to police Lebanon. It does nothing about Arab prisoners. It blames Hizbullah for everything.

It accomplishes politically what the Zionists failed to do militarily.

please explain and tell me something good can come from this...has the last month of resistance been a waste of time and lives?

Gravatar fog,

As they say, the devil is in the details. As I stated in my comment which I wrote before Nasrallah made his speech, this resolution was basically written in Tel Aviv. So, it does not make sense for Nasrallah to accept it. The important point is that he said he would go along with the Lebanese government but with reservations. These reservations and the unspecified mandate of the "international force" will make or break the deal.

In all likelihood, Nasrallah is counting on Usrael continuing with an aggressive military strategy, regardless of this resolution. He also said that Hizbullah will continue resistance as long as Israelis stay in Lebanon. Therefore, he is preparing to continue the fight without being blamed for torpedoing "peace" and avoiding a split with the government that he would be blamed for and which would lead to a civil war.

In sum, it is far from over, and no, the sacrifices were not for nothing. The M.E. will not be the same again.

Gravatar Tony, thanks for your analysis. You always make things clearer.

Gravatar thanks. that would make strategic sense.

Gravatar T.S. is right.

But that means more killing in Lebanon and (!) Gaza.

Our task - for those who live in the west - is to dezionize the public
in order to stop jewish supremacism in Palestine, which will - in the
very long run - also hurt and finally kill the jews in Palestine.
