Gravatar great list. I would add the "the rise and fall of palestine" by norman finkelstein to it.

Gravatar I would like to recommend another excellent book...it is absolutely amazing for telling the truth, and he tells people so in the introduction, that if they don't want the truth, to leave the book at the bookstore.

Arabs and Israel for Beginners, Ron David, 2001.

Text Quote from book: “Although I don’t think that Israel benefits anyone, including the Jewish people, I don’t expect Israel to quit the Middle East. So what do I want? I want a few famous American Jews, especially ones I respect like Phillip Roth, Susan Sontag, Norman Mailer, Grace Paley, Woody Allen, Max Apple, Doctorow, and dozens of others-all of, the people who’ve taught me everything I knew, to stand up and say, “Let’s quit lying to the world-and to ourselves. We stole Palestine. We stole it. Even if we give the Palestinians ‘autonomy’, or ‘self-determination’ or the ‘West Bank’, or a Palestinian State, we will still have stolen most of their country. Let’s at least start off by telling the truth.”

Gravatar Thanks for the list. I didn't see this on your list of web resources. Would you recommend it?

Gravatar Mahmood, that's on the list. You're right, it's a great book. Maractu, I haven't read that. I only recommended paper books, I'm a traditionalist.

Gravatar Am I right, and there is no mention of "The Gun and the Olive Branch" by veteran Guardian correspondent David Hirst? If I am right, this is a serious omission, as this is IMHO perhaps the best history of the Palestian tragedy in English.

Gravatar I will add it soon, Irish eyes. Thanks for the suggestion.

Gravatar The other side of israel , by Susan Nathan a great book . (Susan talks about tamra a palestinian town in israel that does now show on any map she lives there among the palestinians and she tells about her life among them , and you get to know a lot about the palestinian issue , while having fun too , it is not a boring book at all. when she gets to travel , tamra is not found on the computer at the israeli airport so they put a name closer to tamra . she is a brave lady who is so strong and so decent too. a good book .

when israel Lost , by Richard Ben cramer , a funny book yet it gives you a good idea what is going on. I liked it very much .

Gravatar By the way, I update the list often.

Gravatar Aaaaaaaaah!

I've just seen - to my satisfaction - that "The Gun and the Olive Branch' has deservedly been added to the list. But I also noticed - to my horror - that that excellent book was attributed to David Hirsch, a (lousy) Zionist columnist for the Guardian, and not to David HIRST, the veteran correspondent of that same newspaper. You're not the first person to confuse the two writers, who, despite the similarity in thier names, are not at all similar in their views on Palestine.

Gravatar There are some really good books that need to be added here:

1) First and foremost: Mein Kampf, by Adolf Hitler. Really tells it as it is about the Zionists.

2) Protocols of the Elders of Zion. This is a book that the great Adolf Hitler himself has recommended. REALLY tells it as it is.

Gravatar You can read a review of Dan Cohn-Sherbok’s “The Politics of Apocalypse” here

Gravatar Thanks, Irish Eyes. I hadn't checked the comments on this post in a loooong time.
