If chimp and Dick go ahead with their plans to invade Iran, Sadr would likely become Coalition enemy #1 in Iraq.

buh,
So he would fight them if they invade Iran but not when they are in "Sadr City?"

I'm suprised, that you fail to notice, that is article serves american
propaganda-purposes.
Besides it's strange, that you see him as a coward, while complaining
about the armed pal. resistance, whose heroic - and 100% inefficient
- fighters get shot like fish in a bowl by the IDF.
And - yes, he's an evil sectarianist - I'm not ignoring that ...

europe,
There is no contradiction between my two positions at all. All I am saying is that both the Palestinians and the Iraqis should resist their occupiers, but in an intelligent way. They should adopt guerrilla tactics and use the element of surprise to their advantage.
Sadr is not resisting but collaborating. The Palestinians try to resist but not in a smart way.

Tony, what I meant earlier was that if we invade Iran the co-operation with Shia in Iraq would probably end. I'm just making an observation, nothing the Americans are doing makes any sense. We hear about the Sadr City project in this article and then we hear that the U.S. also may indirectly back the supposed al-Qaeda linked "radicals" in Lebanon against Hezbollah. It almost seems like they're trying to reinstate the same Sunni/Shia balance that was there when Saddam was in power.

buh,
The U.S. strategy is simple: use both sides to destroy each other and keep U.S. casualties low. As long as the Shiite militias are only fighting the resistance, the U.S. will back them up.
In Lebanon, the U.S. views Hizbullah as the main threat and that is why it is arming (with Saudi help) Al-Qaeda linked groups.
This is reminiscent of the Iran-Iraq war when Kissinger said that the U.S. objective was to have them fight as long as possible to destroy each other. When one side teetered the U.S. stepped in and propped it up to stay in the fight.
