Shiite Hezbollah gunmen seized control of several Beirut neighborhoods from Sunni foes loyal to the government.
There are other signs that pro-government groups are collapsing.
The TV station of the Sunni parliamentary majority leader's party went off the air Friday. Opposition forces also set the party's newspaper offices on fire.

The security sources said Hizbullah and fighters from the allied Amal movement - both Shia groups - had overrun offices of Mr Hariri's Future group across the predominantly Muslim western half of Beirut.
