You are right Gary. This is appalling news. In that Governor Carcieri - a governor in general for whom I have had high praise - is of the genre of the corporate leadership elite (former CEO), I am not completely surprised that a deal was hammered out with the General Assembly that included a good deal of compromise, but to unleash the hounds of state sanctioned gambling is historic error, one where RI's future and culture will pay dearly. It is a testimony to what we've become: a state where every business, save a few, are fleaing due to high taxes and the eventual ruination of manufacturing. So what's left? The vices. And what do you do with them? Ta da!
