Did you see Alterman? The guy looked like he was half dead. If he was trying to promote his book at all, he was doing a horrible job of it. Even when Dennis tried to perk the interview up a little bit, Alterman still sat there talkig without moving his lips and staring at the table top.

Well, that about sums it up. Conservatives don't want to think about issues, find measured conversation boring, and are debilitated by intelligent discourse. No wonder righty talk radio thrives.

OK, perhaps Alterman wasn't the most charismatic guest. That's why Dennis Miller is on the show. Apparently forsaking the talk show convention of having some familiarity with the work of your guest and preparing questions, Miller boldly decides to deride him and then throw a fit like a 4 year old.

I like that at the end of the segment, Miller tops it all off by being completely dismissive to his own guest, who then walks away without shaking his hand, and Miller pats him on the back. It was like the end of 'Lost in Translation.'

As Homer put it: Stupid TV! Be more funny!

I will concede though, a GOOD interviewer is able to keep any dialogue going, no matter how drab and boring the interviewee. I guess that's why he's on CNBC.

Gravatar After watching that, it seems clear Miller has already gotten word that the show is cancelled. Either that, or the candyman didn't make it to his dressing room on time. Clearly he just doesn't have the energy or the knowledge to bother doing the show.

Gravatar What channel is it on again?

Gravatar What the hell? Miller has obviously lost it. Even if you don't agree with everything Alterman has said, to patronize and then mock and ridicule him is unbelievable. If I were Alterman, I would have got up and left. Miller needs to go!
