Cincinnati Blog

Hell, I may run to Kroger's just to watch the fun. It'll look like a bread riot from the Weimar Republic.

Are Americans really this pussy as to be afraid of snow? The people that should be afraid, of course, will not benefit from the 90 loaves of bread, the 15 cartons of milk, etc. that these chicken littles are no doubt consuming today. I just hope they find their way to somewhere warm.

How does this work? You live in Florida but write a blog about Cincinnati, right?

Gravatar Bill,

Yes, I live in Florida 7 days a year.

Gravatar Note to self - buy beer on way home...

Gravatar Has anyone been to the Meier winery up in the Blue Ash area? I am not impressed at all with their wine.

Oh yeah, you missed the biggest rant point of all...before the snow we are getting..."the wintry mix", a Cincinnati specialty just like Graeters, LaRosas and Skyline. Brace yourself.

Gravatar West Chesterite:
Common ground! I just bought a shit pot of beer on my way home. Though don't forget the Jameson Irish Whiskey. It takes the sting out of snowballs...

Gravatar It's all these puss-ass suburbanites who have to drive every gawdamned place that make all the fuss. I personally can walk to four different grocery stores.

Gravatar I could walk to any store. Some would just take a hell of long time and I would have dodge a lot of traffic.

Gravatar Driving in the snow would be fun if it weren't for all the other yahoos on the road.

Gravatar As I was commenting to the girlfriend (she goes to school in snowy boston) about how my parents were freaking out about snow already we did kind of realize we are one of the few cities east of the mississippi that has these damn pesky hills to deal with during the snow...most other places are relatively flat...that being said these people are still nuts.

amen. i made the decision long ago to have the things i need within walking distance. the blizzard of 04 will not keep me from trekking 5 minutes in any direction for food, drink, or anything else.

tominabox: Yes, I have been there. The free tour is fun, and you get free drinks. I don't know much about wine, but I am a particular fan of their award winning Cream Sherry no. 44.

And it is in Silverton.

Gravatar Having been raised in the southsoutheastern Ohio, northeast KY, western WV confluence, I can say that winter in Cincinnati has nothing on winter in the western Appalachian foothills. There are no street/road plows there. You just wait till it melts. I've been snowed in for an entire week - not a fun thing when the power's out, you're heating water on the basement wood furnace, subsisting on lunch meat and lukewarm canned veggies, and only thing to do is play Uno. (Well, there's sledding and innertubing, but no bathing.)
