Gravatar How can you be concerned about 'who is included on the cabinet' before the process even starts. I also don't understand your concern about 'lumping this into Bold Fusion'. It is an open process for applications, and you need not attend Bold Fusion to apply. Whether you like BoldFusion or not, there is one thing that is certain, it will gain a lot of press. And the more press it gets, the more people that may hear about it and therefore apply... expanding the diversity of the group.

Perhaps your point was just that you want to ensure there is a diversity on the board, and that there will be 'new blood' and fresh ideas. If that's the case, I agree. But there are a tremendous number of Young people doing great things in this community. From the Arts to Volunteer, to fundraising to event planning. It's great to see, and I like this next step the Mayor is taking to have a formal advisory that will hopefully be in inroad for people to get action from the city to REALLY address the need to attract and retain creative, young, energetic people.

Gravatar "A start would be to change Bold Fusion to a weekend event that doesn't cost more than going to a Reds Game."

Great idea.

So will you be applying Brian?

Gravatar So far, every Mallory initiative is simply a press release and an agenda-less group/initiative with no goals except his own public relations. In this case, I suspect the YPs will do the work they've always done, but now Mallory will just take the credit for it while doing nothing.

Before you put a lot of time into this, call the other groups who have taken part in things like this in the past six months and see what they thought.

Gravatar You mean like those involved in housing who learned the day of the Mayor-hosted "Housing Forum" that he was actually vacationing in Florida? Some panelists didn't even know it was cancelled until they got to the event.

Gravatar Some panelists didn't even know it was cancelled until they got to the event.

Some panelists must not read the news, since it was widely reported.

Gravatar That it was cancelled? Dozens of citizens showed up without knowing either. Not everyone can sit around and watch the noon or 5 oclock news to see if a 6 or 7 oclock meeting is cancelled. (Especially if you're a panelist--you'd expect the courtesy of a call).

Gravatar if nick spencer was appointed to the cabinet, I think this board would crash the blogspot server.

Gravatar Anon,

LOL!

Gravatar griff -

just wondering: if nick gets punted from his covington deal, will you start a new thread on that topic?

Gravatar WestEnder, the cancellation of Mallory's housing forum was NOT widely reported.

Mallory's spokesman issued a press release cancelling it around 2:30 p.m. the day of the event, just a few hours before it was to start. His action was triggered by TV news reports stating the forum would be held that night. Oops!

What's funnier is that Mallory and his people scheduled the forum in early May, six weeks before it was to be held. Later, sometime along the way, he booked a vacation flight to Florida. Then, he waits until the last minute to publicly announce the cancellation.

Mallory could have avoided a lot of criticism if he announced the cancellation earlier, whenever he booked his flight. But he either forgot or didn't care ... very typical of him.

Gravatar How could you resist posting about this story - http://www.wcpo.com/news/2006/ lo...ston_brawl.html

I LOVE EVANSTON!

Gravatar ... and CIncinnati Advance would broaden the committee? Puh-lease.

Gravatar Legalize gay marriage here. That would get the creative class here in a hurry.

No charge for the advice, Mr. Mallory.

Gravatar Anonymous (Employee of the Enquirer),

Yes, broaden it with different ideas, perspectives, personalities, and connections.

Since I don't know who you are or what axe you may have to grind, I would invite your comments as to how CinAd would not broaden the Mayor's effort.

We certainly are not going to detract anything, espeically if the status quo remains intact.

Gravatar The process is wide open -applications are available to anyone who has access to a computer and an internet connection:
