Cincinnati Blog

my brother worked there when they opened, said that the company's strategy is to open clubs in places like cincinnati, run it for a couple years, then close as soon as they begin to fade. they do this all over the country.

so while it's probably true that OTR isn't the greatest place to run a business, their closing probably had more to do with the fact that cheesy clubs like that have a very short life span.

A new club catering to the hip hop crowd? Wow. Just what they need.

Close the door and turn out the lights, OTR is officially over.

where can you go in cincinnati now to look up hussies shorts skirts as they rock their hips to the pounding beat of hip hop music and sweet home alabama?the continental lounge/i thinks, not.Carnivale dexpose at the carnegie this weekend in covington 60 dollars at the door 150 dollars vip.take your tits and pussy and cock out and get it painted by anything airbrushed.I love repression that is why i stay in cincinnati.

take your tits and pussy and cock out

So you know Jean Schmidt's little secret....

"I will not miss the crowd..."
Sounds pretty narrow minded and bigoted to me.

Anon,

Sounds like you really need a new line of attack!

Downtowns nightlife district should be on West 5th across from the convention center and down the street from Fountain Square and the hotels. I wish I had the type of money to make this happen.

with regard to the question as to why they only mention a new club will open in the same spot in a month at the end of the story. when clubs close around here, the owners of the club that closed inevitably say that a new club will open in it's place or that the original club will open back up soon. that is usually untrue and the location sits vacant. it could be that the enquirer just doensn't believe that anything new will open. i think that the enquirer is a shitty newspaper, but this may be a reason that a club openig on main street is not front page news.

I haven't heard much about the "Northside Alchemize" anymore

Must be really so newsworthy

And I tell ya, Race Inn packs em in every night a not even a mention in the Enquirer!

Red Cheetah was trash. In fact Cincinnati club girls in general are trash. Many club girls overall are trash, but Cincinnati's especially so because the girls are the antithesis of sophistication.

But yes I agree with BG on the editorial bias observation: I had no idea a new club was going to be opened at the site of the former Purgatory, and it never made news until Red Cheetah's closing did.

Look on the bright side, OTR will always have Neon's--its a cop bar and I have a nagging suspicion that an increased police presence is going to need to be permanent in that 'hood.

I live in Northside and don't hold much hope for Alchemize. Aside from the first days after it opened, it is always empty - day and night.

Perhaps they are remodeling? Who knows. So much for the hype.

Gravatar Well, since we're not open in the daytime, I guess that explains.

We haven't yet had a slow weekend yet, its pretty amazing.

You probably come by too early or something. Stop in after 12:30 or so, huge crowds. We loves Northside.
