Palin was noticeably nervous at the beginning and avoided answering certain questions (more so than Biden). Later she seemed to come into her own more, but I think Biden's knowledge of the situation outside America (much like McCain last week) was apparent.
My expectations were actually low for both of them and they both did much better but neither hit a home run and both played with the facts.

The McCain ticket failed (as John himself did last week) to be the clear winner of the debate which until they do will continue to cost them.
Biden was running against Bush. This worked for Bush when his campaign against Gore was really a campaign against Clinton.
Palin rarely answered the asked question. This worked ok for Greer when she debated Buckley.
Ifil seemed to favor the chick over the old white dude which is not what neocons predicted but. I guess, not surprising.

While one poster seems to be conversing with himself about what he calls "Stalinist Bannings", I'd like to get back to the debate. It was troubling to me how Palin refused to answer the questions she evidently wasn't ready to discuss. I guess when the phone rings at 3 AM, we can all take comfort in knowing even if she has no clue how to handle a national or internation crisis, she can always just hang up and get back to telling us how important it is to drill for offshore oil.
