Cincinnati Blog

Too bad they didn't mention Cinplify. It isn't dedicated to blogs but more often than not links to blogs and provides a pretty good round up of articles.
http://cinplify.com/

Gravatar That's sort of a male-dominated article, isn't it? There are tons of great female bloggers who blog about non-female related things. I blog about food, Michelle at wine-girl.net blogs about wine, Shannan at Mommy Bits blogs about her kids... you get the idea.

Gravatar Juile,

Good point!

Gravatar As Julie mentioned, the article was skewed heavily towards male bloggers. On their blog list, they listed only 1 female, Valeree at the great Cincinnati Locavore. We also have a huge food & wine blogging community in Cincinnati, including Kevin Keith's Under the Grape Tree (underthegrapetree.blogspot.com) and Tim Lemke's Cheap Wine Ratings (cheapwineratings.com). Add in Julie's winemedinemecincinnati.com, plus my wine-girl.net and you've still only scratched the surface of our food/wine blogs locally. I'm pretty disappointed in the Soapbox article, although more for the male bias than for the lack of food/wine blogs. At least Valeree represented us on both fronts.

Gravatar The article was clearly biased towards blogs not written by me.

I plan to bring this up at the blogger's convention. Or I might boycott the event in protest, I haven't decided.

Gravatar From looking at Brian's picture it is easy to see why he is all for gay marriage.

More than a few peckers have slid past those lips

Gravatar Forget cowardly anonymous above --- where are the pictures of Donald, Julie and me?

Gravatar that's a great pic of you brian... and i mean this in a very good way- you look like me dad (my dad is a good-looking guy, but you know that right? haha)

yeh, how come MY blog isn't in your blogroll? it's totally cutting edge!! haha!!

seriously- very cool article. i love this blog.

Gravatar Yeah, Jack, good point. No mention of us!

Gravatar Congrats on the shoutout!!!!

Gravatar All of the blogs listed seem to skew away from the personal, which is a shame. Cincinnati has a rich collection of compelling, well-written blogs on a variety of topics, but which also allow the authors' personalities to shine through.

I'm definitely biased, since he's one of my best friends in Cincinnati, but I can't believe they didn't mention http://5chw4r7z.com. You can't walk downtown with that guy without someone recognizing him from the blog (which, considering how seldom he includes his own photo, is really saying something).

Gravatar This is Brianne at Live Green Cincinnati and The Banks Blog. I'm a woman )just ask Queer Cincy - he learned the hard way ) and I made the list.

Most times people don't realize that Live Green Cincinnati is a blog. The daily articles are published in blog format, but the supporting site is filled with tons of information and lots of other pages.

I didn't get invited to the bloggers party though, maybe next year.

Gravatar Hmm, no mention of Cincy Images at http://www.cincyimages.com?

Gravatar yeah, mine didn't make the list. perhaps my sometimes-weekly updates don't quite burn up the rss feeds.

Gravatar Julie carping about a male dominated article. Get real girl. The article is clearly racist. It features photos of 3 pasty white guys and the white tramp at the top of the page wearing riot gear. Real balanced. What, the brothers don't blog? Nate Livingston is chopped liver I guess? Cincinnati won't get past it's overt racism until the YP's (Brian's favorite caste) get with the program and start dissing the white bloggers and celebrating the rich contribution of the African Americans who toil thanklessly on their Cincinnati related blogs. Damn YP's are so caught up in themselves they can't see their blatant racism for the hate that it is.

Gravatar Joe, I would be interested to see the list of Cincinnati based blogs by African-Americans. Can you post them here or drop me an email.

Gravatar Forget sexist or racist--that article was BLATANTLY anti-Beacon!

Gravatar it is kinda rude to ignore the BlackFist Blog on it's birthday.....
http://theblackfistblog.blogspot.com/

Gravatar Joe, you have a good point. I'd be interested to see a list of blogs, too.

Gravatar The entire story, and the collection of blogs, seemed hastily written. I couldn't find any theme or pattern in the blog list, and I wouldn't even say they were the most popular blogs.

That said, since they mentioned both the Cincinnati Dealer *and* Make Cincinnati Weird, I have to say that it was one of the finest pieces of journalism I have ever read.

Gravatar I have to agree with Julie and Michelle. It would have been nice to see more women on the list. I am trying to assume that they just threw the list together without a really indepth search.

Gravatar No mention of me either . . . Oh well.

Gravatar Anyone with a blog is invited to attend the Blogger's Convention. In order to make sure we stock enough booze and snacks, we ask that you RSVP (513.621.0717 or mercantileinfo at mercantilelibrary dot com). If you didn't get an invitation it is due to my profound ignorance, and in no way a reflection on your no doubt excellent blogging skills.

Also, the Mercantile, not Soapbox, is putting on the convention. Please don't boycott our event to protest their article. I'm looking directly at you, WestEnder.

Gravatar Oh man, I can't believe someone pulled out the race card. Just for that I am reversing my previous decision to protest the convention by not attending and will instead protest by attending.

And calling Nate chopped liver is an insult to chopped liver.

Gravatar I agree with julie and michelle too

http://www.personaluniversityche.../ Cincinnati.htm

Gravatar HA! Thanks Brianne... You don't have to be invited, just RSVP! Me and Juliet (of Juliet & Juliette Blog) did!

You know, I am LOVING the new blogs that got posted here as responses to this one. I am practically orgasmic with new reading material -- YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um. A) I wasn't listed, which clearly means they're homophobic. B) I'm not on Cincinnati Blog's blogroll, which clearly means he's homophobic. C) Well, there is no (C). I just wanted to do my ABC's. (this was all in jest, btw)

LOL. Anyone up for a mini-blog project, where we have a definitive "Cincinnati Blogger Blogroll?" Maybe I'll bring it up at the Convention tomrow.

Gravatar Eh, I wasn't mentioned, but I'm not all that upset about it. We've moved around so much in the past few years (and are doing so again in just over a week - this time to the Atlanta area) that I can't really consider my blog a Cincinnati blog anymore.

Have fun at yer convention, folks. I'd be there, but that seems kind of pointless to show up a week before we're gone.

WF

Gravatar Griff,

still ugly as ever. Glad I haven't seen you in over 4 years.
