Cincinnati Blog

Thanks for this post. This place really is a gem for Cinti.
First thing that springs to my addled mind is chamber music.
While the size is right for a lot of less popular country, rock, jazz type acts, I think the issue is going to be the overhead for putting on a show. One of the reasons the Ludlow Garage and The Jockey Club were so successful was the low overhead for putting on a show and, even then, the venues were not successful financially.
That being said, I guess the reason the community benefitted from those venues was the singular will of the promoters, Tarbell and Leist.

Let'a hope that we will get to hear Jack Doll Jr. play the historic organ at the Emery again. The organ originally came from the Albee Theater, and it is one of the greaest organs to be found in North America.

Gravatar I seem to recall that the organ moved on after its decade or two at the Emory. If memory serves its now been installed at Music Hall in the Ballroom. I guess any future recitals will be there instead.

Gravatar MusicNow does not need a bigger venue. Part of the reason I love MusicNow is the intimacy of Memorial Hall, not to mention the aesthetics of the stage.

Gravatar So, you would prefer that fewer people see the event? I'd love to have the Heartless Bastards play my living room, but it might be a better event held in a bigger venue.

Gravatar A benefit for the Emery?
What for?
Isn't it bad enough that corporations want tax bailout money - do they now want us to have charity concerts for them too?
The time to save the Emery is past.
Why hold a charity event to raise money for a for-profit-corporation that bought the Emery, ripped the Mighty Wurlizer out, gutted the place and turned it into expensive upscale yuppie apartments?

The Emery is gone.

Gravatar This happened last year. Also, if you don't like it you don't have to there when it is a great rehabed space. Rather simple idea. Your pointless attack shows your ignorance. Try learning about the project, instead of complaining about irrevelant things.
