lady doctor! eek! whenever i go, i always try to feel empowered instead of awkward, like, "i am taking care of my femininity!" i also remind myself that the doctor has seen way nastier things than what she'll encounter with me.

the advocate story hit home. recently, someone asked me if i was my mom's primary caregiver. when i explained my situation, she said, "oh, you were her advocate." yes, i was. it is important to be on top of your own health stuff.

did you like the lady doctor overall or was the rushed experience too yuck?

with my old ob-gyn he started talking about a shooting in his neighborhood during the exam. It was a turnoff.

It was really, really rushed, and afterwards I felt a little out of sorts. She seemed lovely, though -- had she not been so late it might have been better?

It also wasn't as state of the art as the last place I had gone. Perhaps I should go back to him -- I stopped after losing my job and also after being bitter that they billed me for a co-pay I already paid. Too bad I can't remember his name.

Blah it's so hard to find fgood dentists and doctors.

No matter how good a doctor is, those particular appointments are always unpleasant.

(Not that I want to get into pap-swapping stories) But... during my last pap the doc joked with me, saying that it's a rule in their office that when a woman gets a pap she is entitled to spend the rest of the day shopping.

And all I could think was, "Hurry up and get me the hell out of here so I can go hide under my bed and drink a bottle of whiskey and try to forget that I was ever here."

lady doctor :(

I am considering wearing my own lab coat to the MD office from now on and calling my MD by his/her first name

Tarable, I don't think they are always unpleasant. Once my then-NP showed me my cervix with a speculum, mirror and a light! Now that was an interesting visit. :)

Woah! I'm definitely asking to see my cervix next time.

after a recent bad experience in the ER regarding my husband's BRAIN INJURY, i will never have any sort of trust in a doctor again. ugh.
