Mrs. Clark contributed alot to this town. Hats off to Cafe Brownsville for recognizing her contributions. It is important that people like Margeret Clark who selflessly give to our community are recognized by all of us. |

Mrs. Clark is a Brownsville icon. She gave so much of herself to her community and its generations of young people. Thank goodness the new swimming center is named for her. What a fitting tribute to someone who gave so much to Brownsville. |

Gulp fish. Shrimp. Starfish. Flounder. Eel. That's how far my daughters have advanced under Monica Rosales, who I believe took over Mrs. Clark's swimming classes. She may have changed the names, but Monica continues Mrs. Clark's "Playtime" tradition, which is undoubtedly the highlight of the students' daily routine. Last summer, my daughters had the distinct privilege and honor of meeting Mrs. Clark, who had graciously agreed to come and visit Monica Rosales and her students during their morning classes beingheld at the Elks Lodge. Mrs. Clark shared some words with the children and parents, and even posing for a picture with my daughters. Mrs. Clark has been an inspiration to so many here in our community, whether they’re now 7 or 70 years old. |

Thanks for the posting Chris, it brings back many fond memories of early childhood days.. swimming lessons at Clark's in 1951, in the Acacia Resaca. I can still remember the lessons, the murkey water, the bus rides to and from, eating a bag of crunched up fritos as a snack on the way back, sitting on a soggy towel, all the bus windows all the way open, never noticing the heat of the hot summer days. People like Mrs Clark who have literally touched so many lives in a positive way are the true icons of any community. Brownsville was indeed lucky to have had her as one of its citizens. As God blessed us with her being here for us and teaching us survival skills, may he continue to bless her in the hereafter. |

Mrs. Clark was my mother's - Effie Kavelaris Flores - high school Home Ec teacher. My mother never forgot her, and everything she taught my mother about cooking and sewing. I took swimming lessons from Mrs. Clark in the old resaca. |
