It’s a new day in Brownsville and both commission and the city will be better for it. The elections could not have turned out better for the people of Brownsville. There will be no verbal bar room brawls on a regular basis and all will be calm. Now the commission as a whole can figure out how to rid themselves of the trash left over from the previous commission majority.
I think that the priority should be to get rid of the neutered junkyard dog and the dried up mr. shrimpy. It seems that mr. valadez has begun to see the light, at least while in public. He’s not to be trusted but I think the antics are over with.
Lets move forward and get some positive things done.
Edward spanked De Leon. His nephew hector is a head case this retard was harrassing Camarillo supporters. How bout the picture in the herald. Brownsville will move forward with Edward. As for Miguel Mass's website I read something about the guy with the cap that was also pictured in the herald with Edward. This guy from what I understand is Edward's good friend and he knows lot's of people in the westside. Edward will now hopefully fix the problems at PUB and will clean up the area of district 4.

I am glad that my family and I were part of the 585 voters who came out during this run-off election and elected, without a doubt, the better candidate. Edward will truly represent our district with distinction, and not simply rely on the old scare tactics De Leon used once again. Fortunately, the voters spoke with a resounding "NO" to De Leon, and were not fooled by his bogus missing signs stories or legal threats regarding conspiracy theories involving Camarillo's home address.
Zavaletta and De Leon, showing their true sour grape colors, blamed everyone but themselves for the loss, which they both said was actually suffered by Brownsville. The loss may have stripped them of their title of City Commissioner, but not their trademark arrogance and disdainfulness. Now, Zavaletta and De Leon can sit back and reflect on how the Brownsville voters could not and did not forget that over 140 combined years of experience were not used in Brownsville's best interest during their last 4 years of what should have been, public service.
Mr. Pitufo has hit the bulls-eye once again (forgive me, PETA members). Let's pray that civil discourse will prevail, and that our leaders will realize that it's possible to disagree without being disagreeable. Perhaps, also, we will be spared stump speeches masquerading as "discussion" at our public meetings. No more playing for the cameras, please, gentlemen. Down to business.
Are Betancourt and Longoria shaking in their boots? They should be. It is becoming evidently clear that supporting Zavaletta and Robert Sanchez is nothing short of political suicide. Longoria and Betancourt are the last surviving members of the ill-fated former majority who elected Sanchez, Ahumada and Valadez to PUB. Did they really think 'no one noticed' when they appointed uneducated college dropouts with criminal records to head a multimillion dollar utility?
Change is good. Not even the Rocinante would stick its neck out for De Leon this time, public sentiment was too obviously set against this blind old fool. Never once questioning the qualifications or lack thereof of the potential city manager or these last PUB appointments, its just too bad De Leon couldn't at least be a decent gentleman and admit that his mistakes (in retrospect) cost him this race. Our city needs leaders, not followers, and De Leon followed the whims of the former majority like a sheep to the abbatoir.
Down to business.
Amen, Brownsville is faced with its largest hurdles as it moves from a town to a city. Explosive growth will strain and place a huge amount of stress on the existing infrastructure (physical and manpower). The next 4-5 years will catapult Brownsville into a Texas leader, we need men and women of courage and strength to manage and guide that strain and growth. Corporate America begins its invasion in earnest, Brownsville will never be the same again.
You have what you wanted, the old guard is out.

It COULD NOT have happened to a better man. He IS what every young man should strive to be, a clean cut educated, and respectful man. The UTB board could not have made a better choice.

OK!!!! I have decided to put my screen name to rest. I chose it because I thought it sounded funny. At the risk of sounding stupid I didn’t even know it meant smurf when I chose it. BUT!!!! It seems that a certain individual and his cronies believe I chose that name because I’m short in stature and in turn the mayor. I’M NOT THE MAYOR YOU IMBECILES!!!!
I fear that the mayor will be assaulted one day for something I said and I couldn’t live with that…I don’t know him but he’s never done anything to me so why continue to do something that might result in him being hurt.
