to what i have read on the el rocinante, he is closly tied to Congressman Ortiz. we do not need anybody closly tied to anybody.. that is what is wrong with these politicians.. they do not need to be associated with anybody except themselves.
politicians do not need to be associated with special interests at all..

So it's true because you read it on that rag ? You should be able to do better than that, Elizabeth.
But let's say he is close to the Congressman. So what? As I understand it, Martin's been involved in local politics for years. It's only natural that he's cultivated close ties with many in power. He's helped them get to where they are. Maybe, just maybe, these contacts make him a better candidate, not a worse one.
And "special interests"? Define "special interests", Elizabeth. Isn't that just some over-used, catch-all, bogeyman cliche? I mean, shrimpers are special interests. Stevedores are special interests. So are teachers, real estate developers, and yes, even South Texans for Good Government. And none are more inherently evil than the others.
