Cafe Brownsville

Have a Safe and Happy Charro Days Week? I thought I would say Hi Mr. Cris Davis. I am pleased your website is active again. I hope it performs in a fair fashion. Is there anyway you can change the Chinese Farmer's Hat to a Charro Days Hat on Captain Bob's Rumored Mayoral Candidate picture. Just asking.

Proud Brownsville Resident,
Robert Sanchez
Captain Bob
PUB Chairman

Done.

Mr. Ahumada

Please put me down as a citizen that does not encourage you to run for mayor. I think it would be disastrous and set this city back years.

In my opinion, you are a man who fights for what he believes in with vigor and a thirst for blood. You take the time to back up your point of view with facts and figures that are easily manipulated and spun to fit your needs. You use any weapons at your disposal (Valley Interfaith) to improve your position and help fight your wars.

I have never heard someone say “hey there goes Mr. Ahumada, he really brings people together and gets things done”.

Please Mr. Ahumada, stick to saving the world of electricity and waste water regulation. I hear those developers are up to their old tricks and planning to beat up and old lady and shoot a dog or something. Go Get Em!!!!

Thank you for your comments. I gather you will not vote for me, but thank you for your support on me being on the PUB Board and rescuing dogs. I enjoy serving on the PUB Board and rescuing dogs that will be euthanized or are mistreated. I know, I make a difference in citizens and pets lives. It is people like us that brings integrity and compassion to the world we live in. If you can set your politics aside and not take it so personal, please let me know. I can always use some help rescuing neglected pets. You too can make a difference. Have a great day!

I am new to the area and don't know anything about your "Bob Barker-ess" accomplishments, but I know one thing - you need to hurry up and get that "exploratory committee" together. The rambling, redundant self-promoting gibberish you asked Chris (by the way, you do need to know how to spell the name of a person you are asking a favor of) to publish is a joke.

I would definitely choose not to elect another illiterate, especially someone who has already had a chance to stick it to the public. Please don't run - better yet, get a job that the taxpayers don’t have to support.

I thought I could give your site a second chance, evidently you are not fair ,but one sided with hatred with no facts or reason. What a shame. As I was taught, you are forgiven. Get serious, because your kids and mine are going to pay for bad city governing by unqualified overpromoted folks for reasons of loyalty to special interest because of the almighty dollar. That is greed folks. Last comment provided by me for this site, until it becomes fair and the publisher decides to start thinking about the future instead of the past. It is a turn off when somebody your age is attacking spelling errors on posts sent to you when the author is not wanting to impress or kiss up to you or your apostles. Create, govern, and live for our children, not your crooked advisors. Good Luck, I know you will change and see the light one day. Throw your comical rebuttal of attacks and discredit back, and I promise all I will lose no sleep.

Your response is obvious that you need to attend some anger management counseling. As a former shrimper who is self taught and has accomplished what most will never accomplish, it astonishes me how some people like you are threaten by someone like me. By the way, I do not need a job. I make a good living as a General Certified Appraiser and have always provided for my family. I have a son who is a psychologist in New York, another one who is a teacher at Pace and a daughter who is a sonographer at Valley Regional. None have turned out with the hatred you expresss against others. None have got involved in durgs and I am proud of all my children, so apparently I have done something right. Please contact me if you need me to refer you to a counselor.

By the way, as mayor, I never took perks or recieved insurance benefits and other benefits that are costing taxpayers as some of the candidates that are running.

Have a great day!
Pat Ahumada

For someone who is fixated on how one spells a name and spews the anger that is being spewed, I would say is in need of anger management therapy. If you'd like, please call me and I will refer you to a good counselor.

In response to your suggestion regarding my employment, I am very satisifed with the living I make as a General Certified appraiser. I am also very satisfied what I have accomplished, when you take into account that I am a former shrimper who is basically self taught and had the honor to serve our community as mayor and may do so again.

As former mayor, I did not take any compensation for my service, nor did I recieve any of the perks that has cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars that present commissioners and former mayors recieved. So, obviously, you must be mistaken when you state taxpayers have to support me, when I think you meant taxpayers have been supporting someo of those who are currently running.

Have a wonderful day.
Pat Ahumada

Dear Mr. Ahumada,

I read your letter to the public and wanted to comment since you provided an email to do so. While I agree with your positions on some fiscal issues and I applaud your call for more transparency, I would hate for you to feel vindicated in your methods and attitude if you won the mayor's seat. I hate all the insinuations that often get thrown around during public meetings and the constant interruptions that don't allow those with opposing views to fully explain their reasoning. Short of stalking all elected officials with surveillance equipment, I have no way of knowing all the things that go on outside the public meetings. At the end of the day, all I can do is weigh the arguments for or against an issue. If one side makes legitimate claims and presents a coherent argument for their position, and the other side makes just as legitimate claims but goes on to insinuate what he feels are his opponents' motives and accuses everyone who doesn't agree of not wanting to do the right thing, then all I have is one real argument to consider. I'm not saying you should apologize for your point of view, but I do think you owe the public an apology for your conduct and political methods. I don't think you would do that, and I don't think you feel you have to change your attitude, so I can't imagine you able to conduct a civil city meeting where ideas get debated not berated.

In any case, if you do decide to run, I hope you have a campaign website where you detail your ideas and plans for Brownsville. I also hope during public debates, you limit your answers to substance and not accusations.

Let me just end my comments by reiterating that I agree there should be more accountability and transparency concerning the use of public money. You should continue to bring attention to questionable decisions and keep asking questions, but I hope you do so with civility and respect for the process as well as the people involved.

Good luck

WOW !!!!! I could not have said it better myself Patricia. You perfectly articulated Mr. Ahumada’s political tactics. I could not have done it better had I sat here all night.

Mr. Ahumada, if you could just see what everyone else does you would be able to change your terrorist tactics and do something good for the public for a change. I like Patricia agree with some of what you speak of and fight for but your tactics turn me and every other normal person off.

Because you yell louder or rattle the cage louder and more often doesn’t make you right. Not everyone (not in your camp) is on the take or in the developers pockets. In fact I have yet to meet an elected official I believe is actually beholden to a developer.

The world is not black and white and the grays are always shady. No one WANTS to kills dogs that are abandoned and left to fend for themselves on the streets but some people are charged with managing their numbers.

You asked for feed back. Will you learn from it or use it to fuel your anger as usual???

Patricia and Papa Pitufo, I appreciate your comments and respect your opinions, along with your interpretation of how I conduct myself during discussion and action on PUB agenda items. You are certainly entitled to your opinion and perception, but that does not make it true. I belive, we at PUB all have the right to disagree with each other and have many times. Some issues are more debated than others, but that does not mean we can't all move on to the next issue and agree or disagree. I belive, my input is meant to be constructive to the benefit of the over all good. Your interpretation of how I see developers is all wrong, because the developers are only doing what is in their best interest, as they or anyonelse would argue for thier cause or issue. I certaintly do not blame developers for taking the position they have taken, I brought the debate to the public arena to bring transparency to the issue and raise the debate amongst those that must make the deciisions for the benefit of the ratepayers. The ratepayers are the ones who had been paying and are asked to pay or not pay for the capital improvements needed to support development. You decide if that is good for you or not and vote accordingly when election time comes. If you want to subsidize developers vote for the other guy, if not, please consider voting for me-if I run for mayor. Your other points are well taken and I assure you, I encourage discussion on the issues.

Thanks,
Pat

I would rather vote for my pet goldfish!
