I agree with the gentleman that suggested monies from PUB be diverted into an account which allots funds for the entities in need. I work for a museum and we only charge $2 for adults and .50 for children under 15. We have free days several times a year, free food at times and heavily rely on the city and BISD. All museums would like more funding from these city agencies as well as PUB but not at the cost of alienating our disadvantaged citizens. We at the Historic Brownsville Museum represent the entire community and if it requires that we open our doors for free from time to time we are more than happy to. With only four employees, we have managed to survive though barely. What I'd like to know is how evenly will money be dispersed amoung the various museums and non-profit organizations etc.
One other point I'd like to make is that the Herald hasn't been very supportive of various organizations including us which makes reaching the public difficult. We often have to pay for expensive ads to announce our programs. But that's getting a bit off topic. Javier R. Garcia

All this emergency vehicle museum stuff is just smoke for his real concern which is the evacuation of animals in the event of a hurricane.

LOL, I agree the Mayors got some issues but I still have faith that it will be cited as an illegal tax and we can all vote on the issue as it should be when it comes to our money.

WANTED: Drinking buddy due to fund shortage begining next month when new PUB bill comes in. Usual 2 dollars spent on beer will now go to help fund the sophisticated wine and cheese at local museum. Not a big drinker but feel I need the occasional sip to deal with Cameron County BS.
