Live would have been nice, but once it is up I am sure you will get more hits than you could have imagined.
This was a great victory for bloggers. It is sad that as a blogger you trumped the Herald and all the rest of the local news media.
Two Thumbs Up

"so it doesn't record so that we can playback the video?"
No, I recorded onto DV tape. I was just hoping to achieve both ends, live broadcast and recorded video, in one shot. Perhaps next time I can iron the kinks out with city IT help.
I expect to have the video of the debate up by the end of the day today for replay and review.
BWC, thanks for the kind words.

Eventhough I do not live in Cameron County; it is great to see a replay of such a contested debate. Thanks Chris you are appreciated in Hidalgo County.

I had just commented on BATB that you can play back your tape into Ustream and record it as if it were live to save you time on encoding and uploading.

I just started watching the video. AFter 21+ minutes I had to stop and comment:
Peter says the grand jury is a mechanism "to uncover the truth"? Is that what it obviously did when it decided to indict you Peter in 1988? The truth whose voice we now know was muffled with $20,000 (more than twice the amount you were accused of taking in the first place)?
Peter says he wants to be DA so that the "BND not continue to be exploited". I think we all agree, but where's the proof Peter? The one you sat on all those years?
Peter says he has the "passion" to be the DA unlike Villalobos. There's a fine line Peter, one which you pole vaulted over a long time ago, between passion and obsession. The latter, which you have for Dannenbaum, becomes more apparent by the minute.
Go back to ambulance chasing, and leave the serious work for the serious lawyers.

In the last 5 years, you're most siginifcant trial "victory" is recovering a pick-up truck from a client's disgruntled business partner? And then you have the audacity to follow that up with offering advice on how to try a murder case?
YA NO SEAS PAYASO, PETER!

Peter is a clown in his own little circus.
I can not believe some of the things coming out of his mouth. He is ignorant when it comes to criminal law and after two debates I hope the people of Cameron County realize this. This is not a position that anybody can do. It requires experience. His only experience was that one of his clients trucks was stolen. Give me a break. Peter is all about sound bites.

CD,
Interesting comment - "Grand jury is a mechanism "to uncover the truth".
The grand jury, as written by James Madison, WAS a good mechanism intended for you to essentially have charges heard, in secret, so as not to destroy your reputation in the event you are innocent
The fact that a candidate seems this unconstitutional tribunal that subverts your due process as a "mechanism" is not good.

Humility. Research. Effort.
These are some of the characteristics that Zavaletta lacked during the debate. Villalobos was prepared. Not only did Villalobos candidly answer all of the questions, he was ready to talk about the issues, the improvements of the office, and the direction in which he hopes to take the administration if elected for four more years. Zavaletta, on the other hand, gave inapplicable examples (i.e. going against prominent criminal lawyers, a trial victory regarding recovering a pick-up truck, underhanded allegations about his opponent etc.)as to how he would be the better choice for District Attorney. I'd had hoped that he would have taken the time and effort to formulate an actual plan to implement if elected into office and use the debate as an opportunity to share this plan. Unfortunately, that did not occur. Contrary to Zavaletta, Villalobos had an efficiently structured flow-chart when he FIRST ran for DA -- the exact flow-chart which he implemented to revamp and better the office. Again, he was prepared four years ago, and he is prepared now to continue to improve the Cameron County District Attorney's office.
Can the public say the same about Zavaletta? I think the answer is clear.
