Is it just me or does Pat Ahumada not know what a budget is?
"As Mayor Pat Ahumada sees it, the budget was established when the commission majority decided to distribute the revenues from the fee equally among public safety, the arts, and animal needs."-Brownsville Herald.
What? I never saw a budget? Was I at the same meeting?
On another note, Does the arrogance of this man stop?
"He said it could be reasonably expected that most BPUB customers would pay the fee, noting that resistance is coming from persons still upset and "unable to get over" the outcome of the May 12 election."
"I think the community overall supports it," the mayor said. "Seven cents a day for three good causes and we don’t raise taxes. I think that’s very positive.”
Where is he getting this info from? Most people I know and have spoken to are upset by it and DO NOT SUPPORT IT.
Insofar as the detractors, Ahumada said they have not come up with alternatives.
Alternatives? Mr. Ahumada is not interested in alternatives. He is only interested in paying back campaign promises.
This guy needs to go NOW.

That is one of your most clever posts, yet. I think you may have hit it right on the nail.
Young Frankenstein is an all-time classic. Love that movie!

Two things in the article caught my attention. One is that before he was mayor, Ahumada repeatedly asked the City Commission to not intervene with PUB before action come before them because PUB is suppossed to be an independent board. This is also the reasoning for his assertion that the mayor shouldn't have a vote on the PUB board. However, even before PUB has a chance to agree by vote to collect the fee, Ahumada calls Brusiack and tells him to start adding the fee. I thought Brusiack answered to the board. I'm all for the executive authority of the mayor's office but Ahumada was very critical of this kind of direct intervention by Mayor Trevino and the Commission, so just seems like another example of actions not matching all the talking he did before the election.
The second thing that caught my attention may just be me not understanding a paragraph. I need some clarification. The article states, "The fee appears to have been immediately triggered by Ahumada’s call for a moratorium on killing healthy dogs and cats." The moratorium was voted on June 26 and the fee was voted on July 3. I'm a bit confused about the timeline. I don't think the article was saying that the fee was implemented before it was voted on, at least I hope not.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
You are freakin' HILARIOUS!!!!!!
I knew this imbeciles behavior would bring out from hiding. It's a perfect picture......Dr. Zavaleta resurrected this freak from the dead. And now Ahumada has thrust the evil doctor back in to the spotlight. This town has resurrected two insane... power hungry zealots. THIS TOWN IS IN NEED OF AN ENEMA !!!!

The Resurrection Vote obviously needed four to pass. Let's not forget about Igor's hand in this, either.
Thanks, Eye-gor!

Does anybody know if yesterday's Special Meeting was televised on Ch 12? The Herald had a brief article on pg 2 that indicates Commissioner Atkinson had accepted the $2 fee motion failed, but there was no added comments from Brusiack to confirm that they have stopped charging the fee.
