Cafe Brownsville

Chris,

That's just wrong.

Kurgan.

P.S.

I won. Where is my payout?

I got three beers!!!

"I got three beers!!!"

Pace yourself, Patricia. And for Chuck's sake, get a designated driver.

Okay, forget all that stuff I told Santa I wanted. That eight-liner is all I need! Great stuff, Chris.

"I won. Where is my payout?"

K, you were quicker on the draw than I was. But nevertheless, HERE you GO, dude.

"I got three beers!!!"

GO CRAZY, Patricia.

BTW, who can beat this?

Very clever. Still waiting on a key for the PZ-o-meter.

Thank you for the liquid soap, Chris. After my blog post exchange with Charlie, I feel that I need to wash my hands.

Argelia's right: Miracles can happen, folks.

(Even off Jacaranda)

Heh heh that's funny!

there was one abstention though, you're making it out like Charlie was the only one (just to be fair)

Even off Jacaranda

It was a great party ... met lots of good folks.

Is it even possible to get the three charlie’s??? I don’t think so……………I have built my bank up twice to the 700’s on nothing but stumps, handcuffs and an occasional trio of beer in a mug. Has anyone gotten 3 charlie’s??? What about the What a Burger?

"Is it even possible to get the three charlie’s???"

See my last awesome comment above.

there was one abstention though, you're making it out like Charlie was the only one (just to be fair)

That's absolutely correct. Commissioner Anthony Troiani abstained, and I don't recall him giving a reason. Although, he did participate in the discussion, and he made a snide remark in a subsequent agenda item about the arcade vote.

He obviously felt the permit should have been approved. So, why abstain?

Commissioner Atkinson may have been outlandish in his support for permitting the arcade, but at least he stayed true to his convictions instead of taking the cowardly way out like Troiani did.

Just my 2 cents.

What are the leaves supposed to signify? Is this guy a known pot smoker or something?

"What are the leaves supposed to signify?"

They signify nothing. Same as the apples & stumps. They were among the standard graphics in the slot machine flashy I chose.

very clever. Does Melly have a thing for Charlie?

"Commissioner Anthony Troiani abstained, and I don't recall him giving a reason."

Troiani represents clients that lease gaming units to some of the arcade owners. Told me himself tonight.

So I'll take him at his word. Was he obligated to admit as much or give a reason for abstention at last week's meeting? I don't think so.

Why shouldn't his constituents deserve a reason for his abstention? He IS a public official, and he should have done so for the sake of transparency. When he abstains then provides comments that clearly reflect an opinion, it only contradicts the whole reason for abstaining.

So, he abstained because there was an apparent conflict due to the fact he "represents clients that lease gaming units to some of the arcade owners." He opted to do the "right thing" by abstaining.

Using that same argument, should he not have refrained from opining on the issue altogether?

And, he's OK with sharing that info with you and allowing you to share it in this forum, but he chose not to share it at the City Commission meeting.

Sounds like BS to me.

Sorry but I am going to have to report you to the BGC (Bloggers Gaming Commission). I have been playing this machine for three days and have yet to get better than a trio of Beer mugs. I think the fix is in.

Does Melly have a thing for Charlie?

NO.

BTW,

I certainly hope his representing clients that lease gaming units to some of the arcade owners is a "new thing" for him. Otherwise, I've got major issues with his apparent conflict in the below Sept. 4, 2007 vote.

Minutes for the September 4, 2007 meeting

Commissioner Leonel T. Garza moved that Class “L” Permit Number CL-2007-
001, to allow a game arcade at 344 Paredes Line Road, be denied.

The motion was seconded by Commissioner Edward C. Camarillo, and failed by the following 3-4 vote:

Ayes:
Mayor Ahumada, Commissioners Garza and Camarillo;

Nays:
Commissioners Troiani,
Cisneros, Atkinson, and Longoria

Looks like quite a pickle to me. No wonder he didn't see a so-called point in revealing his reason for abstention.

"Minutes for the September 4, 2007 meeting"

Wrong meeting. On 9/4, they merely voted down a denial of permit; a vote that had no teeth nor effect on the agenda item.

Your potential "pickle" may/may not have occurred when the permit was actually approved on October 2nd.

So, on Oct. 2, Troiani voted to approve the permit.

Thanks.

Oct. 2 Minutes -- for further clarification:

Public Hearing and ACTION to reconsider Class “L” Permit Number CL-2007-001 to allow a game arcade at 344 Paredes Line Road, Brownsville, Texas. [DISCUSSED 09/04/2007]
Upon motion by Commissioner Ricardo Longoria, Jr., seconded by Commissioner Carlos A. Cisneros, and carried unanimously, the public hearing was closed.

The City Commission did not open this item for public hearing.

Commissioner Ricardo Longoria, Jr., moved to approve Class “L” Permit Number CL-2007-001 to allow a game arcade at 344 Paredes Line Road, Brownsville, Texas.

The motion was seconded by Commissioner Charlie Atkinson and carried by the following vote:

Ayes: Commissioners Longoria, Atkinson, Cisneros and Troiani;

Nays: Mayor Ahumada and Commissioner Camarillo.

If Troiani's reasons for abstaining last week stand, then I expect him to abstain from both agenda items tonight.

This looks BAD!!!
Great detective work you two

Where did you run into him BTW. I didn't see either one of you at Ortiz' party, but we got there late
